I really love doing my yearly beauty favourites. Not only is it a great way of gathering everything I've loved over the past 12 months together, it's also great way of seeing just how my tastes change over the years. With new products being launched every week or possibly every day at this point, there's new options being made available all of the time and as a result - it's easy for products to fall by the wayside. Or maybe it's just through a change of your preferences! Either way, I've certainly come to release that my go-to beauty products are subject to change. So, that's exactly why I like to do a post like this one as we near the end of the #DitsyDecember! And this time, we're of course looking back on my 2018 Favourites (which you can find here and here if you fancy a look!)...
Starting with Makeup, I still love a lot of the items in here. Rimmel's Lasting Finish Primer remains one of my staple face primers and I still adore the Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer - though their new Conceal and Hydrate Concealer is another favourite that I tried this year! And speaking of that range, in terms of the matching Conceal and Define Foundation, I think their new Conceal and Hydrate Foundation has overtaken it completely! I still love and use my beloved Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer (a great solid pot concealer that's great for cleaning up brows and lips) and the Collection Primed and Ready Invisible Setting Powder is still my go-to pressed powder, much like the Lottie London Ready, Set! Go Translucent Loose Powder remains my staple loose powder. I've still really been enjoying my CYO When The Sun Don't Shine Bronzer too, but admittedly I have been using a few others more recently too - mainly because as I've nearly used it all up! NYX 'Taupe' Blush remains my staple contour product but whilst I still love and use the Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter in 'Molten Rose Gold' a lot, I have found one or two this year which I've been getting even more use out of throughout 2018! Brow-wise, it's pretty much the same as usual - Primark Skinny Brow Pencils and L'Oreal Brow Artiste Plumper, but I have been looking at other options recently for brow pencils as I've been finding it more and more difficult to get my hands on the Primark ones! I still love my P.Louise Base as an eye primer, but honestly, I have been using my regular concealer a lot this year as an eye base too and whilst I may not use it all the time, the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Glitter Shadow in 'Kitten Karma' has become one of my go-to's for when I want something extra special and sparkly to top things off on the eyes. It's expensive, but I really can't deny that's it's worth the hype. However, the likes of the Barry M Glitter Bombs and Lottie London Eye Foils are a great affordable alternative which I still really love, though I have found a couple others this year which I've really fell in love with too. We all know I'm still obsessing over the Revolution X Soph Extra Spice Palette - no matter what other new eyeshadow palettes I may be loving and using too - so that's a given - as is the NYX Epic Ink Liner, which remains my go-to liquid eyeliner! I've kinda moved on from the Revolution 'The Mascara Revolution' Mascara though. Lips-wise, whilst I do still regularly use my Barry M Peppermint Lip Scrub to buff and smooth them out, I've tried a few other lip balms/treatments in this year which have kinda overtaken my CYO Night Feed Overnight Lip Primer. I continue to adore my Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liners and NYX Slim Lip Pencils (though as always, I tend to buy and use a load of different brands of lip liners) and in terms of liquid lipsticks, I generally still love and use a lot of the same brands and formulas - just maybe a mix of the same and also new/different colours I guess! However, there's certainly a couple of new ones which come to mind which may just have to get a mention in my 2019 Favourites. I still love my MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick though as is the usual for nude lippies, I do have a lot of favourites I rotate between! I do have slightly less red liquid lipstick in my stash though, so Wet 'n' Wild's Liquid Catsuit in 'Missy and Fierce' is one I tend to reach for a lot! Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray of course remains my holy grail setting spray - obviously - and the SoSu Glam Lashes in 'Dubai' are still one of my staple false lashes for a special occasion or night out - I actually moved onto a fresh pair not long ago! And in terms of sticking them down, Duo Lash Glue remains my go-to lash glue of choice.
Brushes-wise, I've continued to use the same brands for the most part except there have been a couple of newbies to add - namely, Beauty Bay Brushes! I've really got into their single eye brushes especially this year. I have also switched up the way I clean my brushes too. Gone is the Dr Bronner Organic Castille Liquid Soap - let's just say that...
Then we come to the next category - Nails! I try and buy so many new nail polishes every year that it's kind of a given that each time, I'd have some new favourites - and that's certainly the case here - and as always, there's too many to list just here! Tools-wise, things have kinda stayed the same, except I have been using other top coats than my previous fave - the Barry M Sunset Top Coat!
Finally, it's time to talk what I like to call collectively - 'The Best Of The Rest'. A.K.A basically all of the other departments - Skincare, Haircare and Bodycare! And as always, a lot of this stuff has generally stayed the same as I don't tend to mix up these departments as much as I do Makeup. However, starting with Bodycare - the Zoella Beauty Products have been replaced, as the brand is soon to be no more (boo!) and I've also fully used up and replaced my LUSH Sleepy Body Lotion (though I am keen to repurchase this as I loved it but not got round to it just yet). Haircare is pretty much the same as I know what I like when it comes to my tresses and like to stick to it, but if I'm going on my November Favourites (which was very hair-heavy), I'm unsure as to whether the likes of the OGX Argan Oil Weightless Reviving Dry Oil and Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner could be replaced. I may even have to add in a new category for my new single shampoo love from Primark. Then finally, for Skincare, again a lot of this is the same as I also like to stick to what works for me in this department too, but I think the Una Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil could easily be replaced with something new and possibly their Glow Boost Serum could be took out completely as I'm just not as into my serums these days! Aside from those though, expect to see a lot of the same things mentioned. Maybe I should just stick to the Makeup Favourites this year...
