Not long after getting the original B Perfect X Stacey Marie Carnival Palette for my Birthday last year, the next version - the Carnival XL Pro - launched. At the time, I was of course still well occupied with the first one and more than happy to wait until I'd played around and got to grips with it until maybe adding it to my collection, or maybe I wouldn't at all. However, after completely and utterly falling in love with the original - I knew I wanted to pick it up at some point. And this Christmas just gone seemed like the perfect opportunity. So, I popped it on my wishlist and come Christmas Day, I was very lucky enough to find it sitting underneath the tree - yay! I've finally had the chance to start giving it a try these past couple of weeks and now that I feel I've given it a good enough go to give my thoughts. Introducing, the BPerfect X Stacey Marie Carnival XL Pro Palette...
Just as the name suggests, this palette is even bigger than the original Carnival Palette. Containing a grant total of 40 eyeshadows and three highlighters - and it's a pretty good deal too. At £42, it's only £2 more than the original - and you get way more shadows and an extra highlighter! The colour scheme once again lives up to its 'Carnival' title - super bright, bold and colourful - but this time, with more shadow space, there are a few more neutrals thrown in too. Personally, I was pretty pleased about this as I feel it rounds-out the colour selection and makes it even an even more versatile, do-it-all palette than the original Carnival! To be honest, the larger amount of shades means you get a wider range of all of the colours in general compared to the original. They're also nicely organised in 'colour scheme' columns too - you've got your red-orange-yellow, red-pink, pink-purples, purple-mauve, blue-green, blue, warm neutral and cool neutral. Overall, there really isn't a colour missing - it's a true rainbow palette! Combine that with the fact there's a good mix of mattes and shimmers and three highlighters for pretty much every skin-tone in here and I think you can see why I was so eager to add this to my collection!
Onto perhaps the most important aspect of this review - the actually testing part! I was so, so excited to get trying this palette out. After loving the original so much, hearing so many good things about this new palette and loving the whole colour scheme and set-up myself so much - surely I was gonna be onto a good thing? Well, yes, I was - this. is. awesome! I actually think I may just love this one a little bit more than the original Carnival Palette. The formula is just as brilliant - if not maybe even better - but the more vast selection of shades (some of which were colours/finishes that I always felt were kind of missing from the first palette) means it just might have to nudge it off the top spot. Formula-wise, it's just perfect. The mattes are all super rich and intense in pigment with even the smallest amount of product on your brush. They blend so easily and also seamlessly too, with no patchiness or harsh lines to be seen. When you blend, you don't lose all of your pigment and have to keep packing colours back on - the colours all really hold well and only require minimal reapplying after blending. It's also so easy to create looks as colours just blend into each other like a dream too! There is a little fall-out, but as I've said before, that never really bothers me as long as it's not excessive (and this palette is certainly not) and it can easily be avoided or fixed either by doing your eyes first, or gently brushing it away from your under-eyes if you've already done your base. Then, we move onto the shimmers and - oh my goodness - just like in the original Carnival Palette, they're gorgeous! They apply nicely with a flat brush but I do find you can use a fingertip or dampened brush as a finishing touch to really get the most out of them - especially if doing a more precise look such as a cut crease or halo eye where you may need a flat brush to get the shimmer cleanly applied near the edges, but can then use your finger on the bulk of the area where you don't need to be as accurate. They're nice and creamy in texture so adhere really easily to the lid - again, with little to minimal fall-out - and they combine and layer super nicely to create different shades and effects!
All in all, I completely adore this palette. As with the first Carnival Palette - there is not one shade or look I've created with this palette that I've not been happy with. Though I do love my affordable/drugstore palettes, I really can see the difference with these - which is of course good, as if you're splashing out a little more, you want to be able to tell that it's been worthwhile! And it really is with the palettes from BPerfect. I especially love with this new edition that it's the same awesome quality (if not, maybe even better) but there's more shades, with more variation and options of tone, depth and texture in each colour family and as a result - there's even more options when it comes to different looks you can create! There really is pretty much every and any colour you could need in this palette - neutrals, brights, warms, cools, a matte white and a matte black. What more could you want, eh? Plus, from the one highlighter of the three that I tried, they're pretty lovely too. Super intense and glowy, whilst not being chunky or glittery at all! Overall, if you haven't checked out this palette yet and love the look of it - definitely go for it, I honestly couldn't recommend it more!
