Trying The 'How To Fake Lip Fillers' Technique...

The other day, Raw Beauty Kristi uploaded a YouTube video where she tried out a 'How To Fake Lip Filler' Tutorial by another YouTuber called Snitchery. Now, I love myself some good ol' overlining. I don't have the smallest lips in the world and am honestly pretty happy with what I was blessed with naturally, but I do love overlining them to not only correct the shape, but also to make them appear as big and full as possible! Because, though I do kinda love the idea of lip fillers, I don't actually really want lip fillers - you know? So I was instantly intrigued by this possible new technique to cheat your way instead - even more so after seeing the pretty awesome results she got - and then, only a day or so later the lovely MakeMeUpMissa uploaded her own video where she tried out too. That was the final push I needed to sit down, take notes and then try it out for myself...

The first step is to simply overline your lips - to hell - which is basically what I normally do anyway. Particularly focus on making the lips quite rounded on the sides and making the Cupid's Bow a little more flattened-off to start giving the lips that fuller, plumper effect. Then, use your bronzer on a small brush on the very underneath of your bottom lip to add a slight shadow to help emphasise the fullness. Then, the main 'trick' is to take some concealer on a small, flat brush and use it to cut off the very inner corners of your lips. Then, use the same lip liner to fill in and deepen up the new, plumper outer edges of your lips before using a gloss to fill in the centre. And you're done!

So, I watched both Kristi and Missa's videos, made notes on all of this and the other day when doing my makeup - decided to try it out on my own pout! And oh my goodness - I am super impressed! I actually tried it out for the first time the same morning Missa posted her video as I was so eager to give it a go. I had no other makeup on but didn't want to wait till the next day when I was going to be wearing makeup 'properly' and whilst it wasn't a particularly good attempt at all - I could definitely see how it could work and give good results, with a little more time and practice (plus, actually having all of my other makeup on). So, the next few days I tried it again when I was actually doing my makeup and so far - I'm pretty impressed. With the natural shape of my lips having more thin, sloping sides, I tend to always concentrate on rounding out those areas anyway when overlining to make them appear plumper, but combined with the other tricks - especially the concealer-cutting - it works a treat! It really does make your lips look the fullest I feel they they can, without the actual filler. I'll definitely be employing this routine from now on in the future when I really want my lips to look as huge, full and filler-like as possible! But maybe for the everyday when I just want my lips to be full but not too overpowering, I'll be sticking to my normal overlining technique...
