A £99 Makeup Brush Set for £30?!

Recently, I've been in the market for some new makeup brushes. Yes, I know - you'd think I wouldn't need anymore - but there's some older brushes that I wanted to replace and also some noticeable gaps (yes, really) in my collection that I wanted to fill. To be honest, my face brushes are all in pretty good condition and I also have a good range of different styles and purposes. However, I could not say the same for my eye brushes. Some needed replacing and I really wanted to bulk out my collection in that area too. I love creating my eye looks and there were some styles of brushes I felt I didn't have, or have enough of - and I wanted to rectify that! Spectrum Brushes instantly came to mind as I've heard amazing things about their brushes for years and they're pretty good value for money too. I had my eyes on a couple of their sets and was ready to place an order - until I spotted something on a makeup Facebook page that I'm in...

Basically, Spectrum had an outlet on their site where they were offering their full set of brushes (basically every brush they do) which would normally retail for £99 - for the price of £30! The catch? The handles of the brushes were slightly damaged from where they tried to package them without their usual protective sleeve, to cut down on plastic waste. Unfortunately, the handles then rubbed against the black inner lining of the bag they come with and it created some unsightly grey smudges! Other than that, the brush heads themselves were completely immaculate, so it was literally just some light cosmetic damage. I thought this was a pretty good deal, seeing as the actual brushes themselves are undamaged and so would work and perform just as they normally would. Like I said, I had always wanted to try Spectrum, so what better time than now? I was also recommended in the group to use a discount code before ordering, which then took things down to even more of an utter bargain at £30. £30! I placed my order and in what felt like no time at all (delivery was seriously good) they arrived at my doorstep.

Upon opening them up, I was actually really pleasantly surprised with how the brushes were. I was expecting far more smudges on the handles than there actually were in reality! A lot of the brushes were immaculate and the ones that did have smudges, there were either fairly small or quite light and faded. Basically, there weren't as overly noticeable as I thought they would be! Either way, I was happy though as the brushes themselves were exactly as they should be - meaning I basically got £99 work of brushes for less than a third of the price. Yay!

I've been trying out the eye brushes to begin with as, like I mentioned earlier, that was the department where I felt I needed to replace and bulk out my collection and so far - I'm loving them! They're such great quality brushes - so soft, non-scratchy and perform so super well too. They pick up product and blend it so seamlessly! They also wash up with no isues either. I always tend to mainly spot clean my eye brushes and have found my usual spot cleaner to remove product build-up with ease and the brushes do not ever shed and dry up looking good as new again. I've safely stored away the face brushes for anytime in the future when I either need to replace older brushes I already own or fancy trying a new style - and let's just say I'm excited for when that day comes...
