Tried and Tested: Revolution Conceal and Glow Foundation

I generally seem to have pretty good luck with the foundations from Revolution. First, Conceal and Define was released and though I sometimes found the semi-matte finish to be a little too dry for my normal-to-dry skin, I did really enjoy its full coverage effect and impeccable lasting power. Then, Conceal and Hydrate came along and I quickly fell in love - it still had amazing coverage (perhaps a smidgen less than Conceal and Define, but still a strong medium-to-full), whilst also being more much more of a glowy, luminous finish that was far more forgiving on my skin. The best of both worlds! So, I continued mainly using the Conceal and Hydrate, as my favourite of the two. However, recently, I spotted a brand new base from Revolution - Conceal and Glow. Sounds pretty similar to my fave C&H, right? So, I just had to pick it up. Lets see what I thought...

This newest formula retails at £9.99, which I believe is the standard price for their foundations. Unfortunately, it's only got a 20 colour shade range - whilst both their Conceal and Define and Conceal and Hydrate formulas are both available in a whopping 60 shades - so I'm unsure as to why that is and am hopeful they expand it to their usual 60 colours as soon as possible. Even so though, why take such a step backwards when you've already shown you can be so much more inclusive? Come on Revolution, we all know you can do better than that! It also comes in 23ml, which is slightly less than the standard 30ml for most foundations. That's also slightly disappointing, but I suppose at least it is the standard for previous bases from Revolution, so it is to be expected to some degree.

As for the foundation itself, it claims to be a 'buildable coverage foundation with brightening Vitamin C plus light reflecting pearl particles for the ultimate, skin-loving radiant finish'. Basically, it sounds pretty similar to my beloved Conceal and Hydrate - and that's exactly why I decided to pick it up. I had a good chance of loving it, right? Well, I was right to be optimistic - because I certainly do! I picked up my usual shade 'F2' and found it to be a great match as always (so you should be able to use your usual colour as the shades should match up well across the different ranges) and I just loved how this looks on my skin. It's got slightly more of a thicker consistency compared to my Conceal and Hydrate. It's still liquidy, but is certainly less 'runny', if you get what I mean. I personally find one and a half pumps to be more than enough for my whole face as one full layer and using my classic Miracle Complexion Sponge - it worked like a dream. It blends in so easily, sits so smoothly on my skin and deposits such a gorgeous, glowy, radiant finish to my complexion. From that first layer, I'd say it's a good medium coverage and you can also build it up if you want - though I would still say it doesn't have as much coverage (both off the bat and after building it up) as the Conceal and Hydrate. And that's not a bad thing, as medium coverage is still pretty good and what I tend to go for most days - I simply add extra coverage where needed with concealer. I just love how glowy and luninous this foundation looks on the skin. I don't know how it does it, as there's no shimmer or glitter in the formula - but this foundation just gives such a healthy, radiant finish. It also lasts impeccably on the skin too! Once fully set into place, my base does not budge and stays looking virtually as first applied, all day long. I think I may have found a new foundation favourite...
