It's time for my October Beauty Favourites! A short-but-sweet edition this month - I've found a small handful of new awesome products this month! But, as I said - they're all utter gems - and so, I'm super excited to share them with you all...
BH COSMETICS MIMOSA PALETTE - I finally tried my first ever palette from BH Cosmetics this month and so far, I am certainly impressed! I had my eyes on this palette for so long and decided to take the plunge recently. Packed full of all of your bright and warm pinks, oranges, purples, yellows and reds - it's certainly more so a Spring/Summer palette - but that definitely didn't stop me trying it out this month! And I'm so glad I did, I love it! The colour scheme is just gorgeous and very 'me' and I've really enjoyed all of the looks I've created using it so far. And the formula is so good too! As I've never tried any palettes from BH Cosmetics before, I was admittedly a little nervous as to what the formula would be like and how the shadows would perform, but thankfully - I was not disappointed. The mattes are well pigmented, don't create too much kick-up in the pans or fall-out on the face (not that this really bothers me too much anyway as it's not a major issue) and the apply and blend so easily and seamlessly too. The shimmers all require a damp brush or fingertip to really get them to adhere properly to the lids but, oh boy, when they do - they are stunning! They're just so intense, reflective and foiled-like - so I really don't mind that they require a little more work. If I'm doing a less structured look, I'll simply use my finger to fully apply the shadow and if doing a more precise cut crease or halo eye, I'll use my finger to get the majority of the pigment down, before using a damp flat brush to get closer to the edges and ensure a clean finish. Most shimmers tend to be of this kind of texture nowadays anyway and like I always say - as long as the end result is good, there's no problem...
MAYBELLINE SNAPSCARA MASCARA - I used to really enjoy this mascara when I last used couple of years ago perhaps? So, I thought I'd give it another go when my last mascara became all used up - and I'm definitely reminded of exactly why I liked this one so much! This really gives my lashes so much length and a really pretty, fluttery finish. It does give some volume and thickness too, all whilst still fanning out the lashes nicely at the same time and though not waterproof, I find it to stay put on my lashes without transferring, smudging or crumbling throughout the day - which is always a must, right? Maybelline are always a staple for awesome mascaras, to be honest...
REVOLUTION ULTIMATE EYE BASE IN 'LIGHT' - I was really interested in trying this new eye primer/base from Revolution as I always like to try new options and see if there's anything just as good - or ever better - than my current staples. So, this month I decided to give it a whirl - and so far, I really like it! I gave it a go both with my new BH Mimosa Palette and also some old classics (so I could get a well-rounded opinion, as I know how well my old palettes perform with my usual eye bases) and I was really impressed with how this one from Revolution worked. It's got a pretty thick texture and gives a really full coverage, blanked-out finish similar to the likes of the P Louise Base (which I also really like) and just like those kinds of formulas, I always find that less is certainly more. You really don't need much of this and if anything, it works better with as thin of a layer as possible. Just apply a small amount, pat it out across the whole lid space and go straight in with your shadows. This base really helps my shadows (both mattes and shimmers) adhere really nicely, full of pigment and blend seamlessly too. My shadows stay in place impeccably all day long without creasing, fading or transferring - so all in all, I'm really liking this!
I HEART REVOLUTION COCONUT BAKING POWDER - I've waned to try this loose powder for a good while now. When it was first released, I heart some pretty good things and my best friend also highly recommended it too - so I had a good feeling it was gonna be a good powder. And, it really is! Not only does it smell amazing (super coconutty and tropical) it also works like a dream too. I use it to bake, just as I do any other loose powder and I love the finished result. It's such a finely milled powder and so picks up well on my damp sponge, applies really smoothly and evenly and feels so lightweight on my skin. Once 'baked', I sweep off the excess and the areas in which I've used this powder (especially my under eyes) just look so smooth and almost 'airbrushed', if you get what I mean! You really don't need a lot of this either, so I've got a feeling this pot is going to last me a good while too...
REVOLUTION SKINCARE X JAKE JAMIE COCONUT, MANGO AND CHIA SEED FACE MASK - Finally, a good ol' face mask! You might remember when I tried out another of the masks from this range in collaboration with Jake Jamie (the Strawberry Donut one - yum) and because I was so impressed by it, after I finished it all up I thought I'd give another 'flavour' a go! This one caught my eye as I love anything Mango flavoured or scented and so far, I really like it. I simply apply, leave it for a little while and rinse off and my skin is left feeling and looking really soft and smooth afterwards. This mask's got a texture to it which I feel helps gently buff away those dead skin cells - so I'm guessing that's why my complexion has such a nice glow to it after I've used this! I just know I'm going to really enjoy carrying on using this all up...
So there we have it - my beauty favourites from the month of October! Let me know in the comments below what you've been loving this month, beauty wise - I'd love to know!
