April: The Love List

It's nearly the end of the month, so it's time for my Monthly Beauty Favourites! This time around, it's my namesake month, April, and let me tell you - I certainly have a lot of new staples...

BY BEAUTY BAY 'BRIGHT MATTE' AND 'PASTELS' PALETTES - I finally picked up the big Bright Matte Palette by Beauty Bay not too long ago when I spotted it in the sale for just under a tenner! Being around £23 full-price and containing a whopping 42 colours, it's already not too bad of a deal but to pick it up at more than half price? I knew it was at last time to give this much-hyped-up palette a try for myself. Full of all matte shades in all of the colours of the rainbow (plus some handy neutrals, black, white and a few greys) - it's got all you need for bright, bold mattes. And you know what? The formula is great - pigmented, creamy, blendable and all of the colours combine together into looks perfectly too. I love having more rainbow colours in my collection (you can never have enough, eh?) and to have so many, in such a good formula in one place is brilliant. I can either do an all-matte look, or if I want a shimmer/s, I can simply reach into another palette - done!

COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION GLOW FOUNDATION IN 'EXTRA FAIR' - I saw the word 'glow' in this new foundation from Collection and it was enough to encourage me to give it a try. This applies really easily, depositing a light-medium, buildable coverage and sitting really nice and smoothly on the skin, without looking cakey or heavy. It really does add a subtle glow to the complexion - without any glitter or shimmer to be seen - and I find this base to wear pretty well throughout the day too!

NYX BARE WITH ME TINTED SKIN VEIL IN 'NATURAL SOFT BEIGE' - However, with Summer fast approaching, I have been in the market to pick up and try some super light coverage, almost tinted moisturiser-esque bases. Every year, I have this thought and I never get around to giving anything a go - but especially this year, with super light 'foundations' very much on trend and popping up here, there and everywhere - I knew it was time to add a couple to my collection. This one from NYX was released a while back and has received pretty good reviews and so far, I really like it! It's quick and easy to apply and blend and it really does just add a subtle veil of light coverage across the skin. Perfect for those days when I do just want a touch of something (and use my concealer where I really want coverage) and especially for the warmer weather, when I want my skin to breath!

BARRY M FRESH FACE FOUNDATION IN '2' - I also picked up this one from Barry M to try! This is a much newer release but also, I've seen some good things about it and with Barry M being one of my favourite brands - I felt it'd be a good one to go for. This again has super light coverage, blends onto the skin in no time at all and feels very comfortable and breathable. I'd actually say I slightly prefer this one to the NYX as this one sits even smoother on the complexion and requires just a touch less work to apply. So, I'd say I'm pretty set now in terms of light base options, yay!

COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICKS IN 'SECRETIVE', 'FIERCE' AND 'PROMISCUOUS' - These also caught my eye when picking up the new Collection foundation. I can't help but be tempted by a matte liquid lip, OK? And these are pretty good ones too! Fully opaque and pigmented in one layer, easy to apply and quickly dry down to a super matte, powdery finish. However, though they are fully shine-free in final texture, they still feel very comfortable to wear and don't look dry on the lips at all!

REVOLUTION PROTECTING BOOST DAY CREAMS ('SPF 15' AND 'SPF 30') - I was after a new day cream for using - you guessed it - in the daytime, mainly underneath my makeup (since I wear makeup most days) and Revolution had a couple which caught my eye! I knew I wanted some level of SPF protection and decided to opt for both the SPF15 and SPF30 as I figured it'd be good to have both to use, depending on what I was doing that day. Both sink into the skin quickly and easily, feel instantly hydrating and work perfectly well underneath makeup. What more could you ask for?

BARRY M GELLY NAIL PAINTS (SPRING/SUMMER 2021 COLLECTION) - As you would have seen in this post, I recently picked up some shades from the new Barry M Spring/Summer 2021 Gelly Nail Paint Collection. 'Pineapple Punch' is a lovely warm, orange-toned yellow; 'Blue Margarita' is a classic cornflower blue and 'Jalapeno' is a rich, dark forest green - all gorgeous shades, all stand up to the usual standard of Gelly Nail Paints. I can't wait to carry on wearing these over the coming months!

PRIMARK PS LOVE 'ROSE' EAU DE PARFUM - Finally, I have this perfume from Primark. I've bought a few of their fragrances before as they make great 'cheap perfumes' for everyday use or when I just want a scent (e.g. for work), but don't want to use my 'proper', expensive perfume! Their 'Black Oud' Perfume is lovely and has become my most-used of theirs, but thistime round I fancied trying something new and after giving a couple a sniff, this one was what I settled on. This is florally and sweet, but still with a musky undertone and I really like it! It's intense, doesn't require a lot of really get a scent going and though it might not last as well as a 'proper' perfume, for this kinda price, I don't mind having to top-up...

So there we have it - my April Favourites! Let me know in the comments what you've been enjoying this month, I'd love to know!
