Moment Of Makeup - The Wedding Guest Edition

On Saturday I attended a wedding and of course, did I my makeup for the occasion. I always really enjoy doing my makeup for events like this, I love spending more time on it and, effectively, slapping pretty much every item I own on my face. So with all that in mind, I thought I'd share my choices that day with you lovely lot. The plan was for makeup that was long-lasting, with a defined, slightly smokey eye, and a bright pink lip. I hope you enjoy a delve into my makeup bag!

For my base I firstly applied my usual Nivea Sensitive Day Cream to keep my skin moisturised and hydrated throughout the day before then priming my face with a sample size of Benefit's POREfessional, as it really does live up to all the hype surrounding it. I then used my colour correctors - Natural Collection Green Concealer and MUA Pro Base Prime and Conceal  - and applied the green in any areas of redness and the yellow under my eyes. I then used my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to buff the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation into my skin before using my Setting Brush to apply Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer on any blemishes and Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer under my eyes. I then set all of my base makeup into place using Rimmel Stay Matte and applied a light spritz of Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.

While waiting for that to dry and set down, I filled in my brows with L'Oreal Brow Artiste Brow Pencil and then set them with Maybelline's Brow Drama. I also bronzed up my face with Rimmel's Natural Bronzer, contoured slightly with Benefit's Hoola, applied some blush - Natural Collection's in Peach Melba - and highlighted with a sample of Benefit's Highbeam. I again spritzed a little of the setting spray before moving onto eyes...

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted my eyes to be defined and slightly contoured/smokey, without being too overpowering with my bright pink lip. I firstly primed my eyelids with Urban Decay's Primer Potion (hands down the best eye primer I'd tried). I decided to use all matte colours, as I thought shimmer would be a bit overboard, so I used my two MUA palettes - Undressed (the black) and Undress Me Too (the white) - and picked the matte colours out to use. I started by applying the lightest, almost nude shade, all over my lids. I then gradually built up the colour, adding gradually darker shades of brown to the outer section of my eyes until I reached the crease, where I lightly applied the darkest shade, winging it up at the end slightly. I then followed by using my Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal in 'Black' to apply a thin line along my lashes, thickening and winging it out slightly at the outer corner. I then smudged that slightly with my Accent brush so it was smokier and less stark against my eyeshadow. I finished my eye makeup of course with lashings of mascara - that day I decided to use my sample of Benefit's They're Real Mascara, which I've really been enjoying so far.

I then again spritzed some All Nighter all over my face to set my entire face of makeup for the day before moving onto lips. I'd already applied some basic lipbalm when I moisturised my face at the start, so my lips were plump and primed for what was to be a slightly more matte lip choice than I'd usually go for. Normally when it comes to lipsticks I go for the glossier options, as I prefer the feel of them on my lips, however after hearing Anna rave about these, I had to give them a go and, in summary - I. LOVE. THEM. They are the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks and for that occasion I used the shade 'Pink Pong' which is a lovely vibrant pink that matched my dress perfectly and helped to get me out of my lipstick rut that I seem to have gotten into recently.
