Best Of The Beauty Tips And Tricks #BeautyHacksWeek

Welcome to my second #BeautyHacksWeek post! If you missed Monday's I'll link it here when I was talking my best picks makeup-wise if you're on the post-Christmas budget. In this next instalment, however, I'm dropping in with a summary of some of my top tips and tricks for the entirety of beauty - be it makeup, nails, haircare, skincare - you name it, I've got a tip for it...

Struggling to take off your glitter polish? This one I've got Lily Pebbles to credit for, as I first heard of it from one of her Vlogmas vlogs. She also mentions it on her blog here. Basically, take some cotton wool, soak it in nail varnish remover and wrap it round your glitter-stricken nail. Then - key part here - wrap a layer of tin foil over the top, so you completely cover the cotton wool. Leave it on for 10 minutes, unwrap your nails and voila - glitter be gone. Cheers Lily!

Want to make sure your nails are 'really' dry? This is my personal favourite and one I remember repeatedly doing basically since I started painting my nails. After lacquering them up and leaving them to dry down, dip your digits in some ice cold water for a few minutes to really set them in place and avoid those annoying dents and smudges.
Struggling with the smokey eye? Another blogger inspired tip, this time from Amelia Liana. Her 'Post-It Note' trick (mentioned here) always works wonders for if you fancy doing a smokey or particularly heavy eye makeup look and need that clean-cut, winged-out effect - fast.
Got a favourite lipstick that you want to make last that little bit longer? If you fancy a matte lip but all your favourite shades are in a more glossy formula, try patting on a little translucent setting powder on top to matifying down that shine and no one will ever know that it didn't come out of the bullet that way.
Struggling with those flyaway brows and forgotten to use/pack a brow gel? Try running over a little lip balm on top of those pesky strands or comb through them with a spoolie coated in a little hairspray.
Finding contour a challenge? If you have trouble finding the perfect contour and highlight shades that blend seamlessly into your skin and don't leave muddy marks and shimmer stains - try using eyeshadows! A matte taupe and light pearl are all you need to get that Kim K effect instantly without  fear of it all going wrong or possibly even a trip to the shops needed.
Run out of shaving cream? If you have a traditional razor without the moisturising strips and so need to use some sort of shaving cream and have run out, try using some hair conditioner instead - it works just as well and will leave your legs super soft.
Struggling with your lashes? Try blasting those curlers with a bit of hot air from your hairdryer, it'll help them curl easier and stay curled much longer.
Struggling with your winged liner? Most of you've probably already seen this one, as it did the rounds some time ago with many exclaiming 'really?' - but it does work. Try holding the handle of a spoon against the outer corner of your eye where it meets the end of your eyebrow and draw a straight line. Then flip that spoon so the curve is hugging your eyelid and use that rounded edge to join it back to your lashline and create a perfect feline flick. That creates your outline, all you have to do is fill it in and line the rest of your lashline. Done.
And finally... Haven't got time to curl your hair? Put your hair in simple plaits and run your straighteners over them, let the plaits loose and there you go - perfect curls.
