Facial Exfoliation - Two Ways

Exfoliation is such an important part of a Skincare Routine. Not only does it smooth out the texture of your complexion, it can also help minimise blemishes, brighten and tone the skin and aid the application and finish of your makeup - to name just a few. Recently, I've been using a couple of products alternatively to do exactly that, so I thought I better share...

The original and classic - a 'proper' facial scrub. By this I mean, an actual scrub that you gently massage over your dampened skin, rinse and you're good to go. For this, I personally love the Una Brennan Superfacialist Rose Brighten and Refine Facial Scrub. This strikes the perfect balance between being 'scrubby' enough to get the job done, but still not in a harsh or aggressive way. It always leaves my face feeling super-smooth and looking much brighter and fresher, but at the same time never makes it feel or look aggravated at all. Yay! The subtle rose scent is nice, but not too overpowering and I find a little goes a long way, hence why this tube has lasted me so long, so far!

But, if I'm not in the mood for a 'traditional' face scrub, but still want to help refine my skin's texture and also make things look much more fresh and awake - I reach for an acid toner. Not only do these tone the skin, they also slowly but surely buff away any dead skin cells and leave behind a fresher layer of skin - but without the actual action of scrubbing, like a 'proper' scrub mentioned above. And for this, I'll always love my Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Acid Daily Cleansing Pads. These are such an amazing, more-affordable dupe of the Nip + Fab Acid Pads, or the Pixi Glow Tonic - or basically anything similar. They are so cheap, but so, so good! I simply swipe one of them nightly across my face and down my neck and over time I really feel like they've helped in making my skin appear brighter and more refined - and of a much smoother, softer texture too! Definitely check them out if you haven't already...
