Festive Makeup Favourites - Face Products #DitsyDecember

Let's start a little mini-series within my #DitsyDecember series, yeah? For the next three days, I'm going to be detailing my 'Festive Makeup Favourites'. Basically, it does exactly what it says on the tin - this series is all about all of my favourite makeup products for this time of year. As you can perhaps imagine by now, I'm going to be splitting it into three sections - Face Products, Eye Products and Lip Products - with today being all about the Face and the next two categories (Eyes and Lips) following suit over the next two days! So, without any further ado, let's gets started...

RIMMEL LASTING FINISH PRIMER - You always need a good face primer for the festive season to help your makeup glide on - and most importantly, stay put - all day long and for me, this is one of my favourite, favourites. With its more moisturiser-type formula, it feels really hydrating on the skin and helps plump and smooth things, ready for makeup. really nicely. It leaves behind a slightly tacky residue, so you feel like your makeup is going to adheres well and let me tell you - it really does. This helps my makeup stay put, in place and looking basically as I applied it all day long - a must have for the festive/party season...

REVOLUTION LIQUID HIGHLIGHTER DROPS IN 'LUMINOUS LUNA' - Another must have - in my opinion - is getting your glow on and no better way to kick that off than by adding a liquid highlighter into your routine. And by this, I mean not necessarily as a highlighter, but as a mixing medium. Add a few drops into your foundation on the back of your hand, mix together and apply as usual and you'll be left with a much glowier, radiant-looking base - perfect for the party season! These highlighter drops from Revolution are my personal favourites - the formula is super smooth, not greasy and this colour is perfect for my paler skin-tone, but they obviously have a wide and diverse shade range that means they can work for anyone and everyone too.

REVOLUTION CONCEAL AND DEFINE FULL COVERAGE FOUNDATION - You can't go wrong with a full coverage foundation this time of year and these past few months, as you probably know, I discovered a new favourite - again, from Revolution. The doe foot applicator makes application easy to control and the formula feels so lightweight, yet gives such amazing coverage too. It's not full-full to begin with, but a second layer certainly builds it up to be and of course, you can sheer it out oif that's more your thing by applying less too! But, as I know a lot of people are all about that full-beat coverage (myself included) and especially so when it nears the end of the year, this is a great one to go for.

REVOLUTION CONCEAL AND DEFINE CONCEALER - Another great recommendation, from the same range, is the matching concealer. As soon as I tried this at the beginning of the year, it became my new fave and it says a lot that it has remained so throughout 2018 - right to appearing in this post here! Just like the foundation, this gives full coverage - and as it's in a concealer format, it really is full-full this time, which is great! A little really does go a long, long way and it blends out like a dream too. It does dry down a little to a more matte finish, but it never feels or looks dry on the skin - especially the under-eye area - and once set, stays looking flawless all day. Yay!

LOTTIE LONDON 'READY, SET! GO' TRANSLUCENT SETTING POWDER - A real must-have for me, particularly when it nears the festive/party season, is a good translucent loose powder. As well as setting areas normally with a translucent pressed variety, I love to 'bake' my face with something like this and ever since trying it out this past year, this one from Lottie London is my favourite. It's super finely-milled and never makes the skin appear heavy or cakey and it really does lock things into place - especially when used to 'bake'! It's also completely colourless and also - most importantly - leaves behind no white cast when dusted off and so and creates no flashback in photos. Hallejuah!

NYX BLUSH IN 'TAUPE' - Another staple in my festive/party season makeup routine is contouring. Well, I love a good ol' contour all year round, but especially so when this time of year rolls around and I wanna be looking extra snatched and on point - yanno? I know this one is more dedicated to me, or people with paler skin-tones like myself, but I thought I'd give it a cheeky mention anyway as I love it, it's my favourite and I think there might be a few other colour options in this range that could potentially give this shout-out a little more versatility. Not only is this the perfect light, ashy colour for my skin-tone, this formula is perfectly pigmented (not too much, not too little) and it blends in like a dream too.

CYO WHEN THE SUN DON'T SHINE BRONZING POWDER IN 'FAIR' - Bronzer for me is a particular go-to all year round - with me being of a paler skin-tone and all that - but especially throughout the Autumn/Winter months in general (when I'm extra pale) and so I just had to throw my current favourite in here somewhere too. Not only is this one cheap as chips, it's so, so good too. Like NYX 'Taupe', it's really nicely-pigmented and applies and blends into the skin easy-peasy aswell and if that wasn't enough - it smells like holidays - and, no I'm not talking of the Christmas kind. It's nice to be reminded of Summer, yanno?

NYX AWAY WE GLOW LIQUID HIGHLIGHTER IN 'CRYSTAL GLARE' - Obviously, I had to throw in a highlighter or two in here, right? I know I already spoke about the liquid drops, but those were, as I said, more for mixing in - but now, I'm gonna be talking straight-up glow-givers for actually highlighting the face. Cause, I know we all like a glow all year round, but I can't be the only one who loves it even more so when the festive season rolls round, yeah? And, seeing as we're really going all-out, why not mention a liquid/cream as well as a powder? Not only is this liquid/cream perfect for using alone if that's your kind of thing, you can also layer it underneath a powder glow to really make it pop too! This one from NYX is one of my favourite liquid/cream highlighters - not only is the light champagne gold colour perfect for my skin-tone (though they do also have plenty of other colours on offer too), the large doe-foot makes application quick and easy and it's one of the few formulas that doesn't disrupt my base in anyway. Yay!

THEBALM MARY-LOU MANIZER LUMINIZER - If a powder glow is more your bag, or you simply want a great option for topping off a liquid base (such as the one mentioned above) - look no further than this one from theBalm. I'm sure you all know by now that this is one of my all-time favourite powder highlighters as I have harped on and on about this for years at this point - cause it really is so, so good! The light champagne-y gold is such a lovely colour (and I think they have a few other colours in the whole 'Luminizer' Range) and the formula is just gorgeous. Super-creamy, glides onto the skin and looks so super shimmery and blinding with even the smallest amount - and yet, also looks so smooth and not chunky and glittery in anyway at the same time.

URBAN DECAY ALL NIGHTER SETTING SPRAY - Last, but definitely by no means least, we come to the final area of the Face that we still need to talk about - Setting Spray! Again, an utter essential for me all-year-round, but especially so when it comes to this festive/party time of year when I really, really want everything to stay fully locked into place and flawless all day - or night - long. And, I'm sure it comes as no surprise that this one is my recommendation. Ah, good ol' Urban Decay All Nighter - my favourite, go-to holy grail setting spray that I love and use basically every single day. Yes, it's not the most affordable option out there, but it's more than worth it in my opinion. Not only does it mesh your makeup together nicely as a final, finishing step - giving you a more 'skin-like' finish - it also really does seal the deal and keep your makeup looking just like how your first applied it, all day long. Which is exactly what you want this time of year, right?
