Polish Pick: Christmas Day Nails #DitsyDecember

Just as I love showing you all what I chose to wear, 'makeup-wise, on Christmas Day, I love shining a spotlight on what I decided to lacquer up my nails for the occasion too. And, just like years past - here is that post! A super festive, sparkly look that I just felt was perfect for The Big Day...

I really wanted to go for a super-Christmassey colour scheme and eventually, I decided to go for gold. It screams 'festive', is easy to wear and really complementary and gives the opportunity to really pile on all things glittery too. Over the years, I've built up a decent collection of golden lacquers - whether they be solid metallic colours or glitter toppers - and recently, have added a couple more to my stash. So, it just seemed natural that I created a look based around them!

To start, I went in with the Rimmel 60 Seconds Glitter Nail Polish in 'Oh My Gold'. I recently picked this up and thought it would make for a great base for my Christmas Day nail look. A metallic polish with fine shimmer running through - this gives an even wash of colour, but with a slightly sheeny finish that kick-starts the glitter marathon about to commence perfectly and this colour is ideal too. Its that kind of bright, yellow-y gold that just calls out 'Christmas', yanno? I love it. Next, I wanted to start layering on the sparkly stuff and to start, went in with the Barry M Nail Paint in 'Majestic Sparkle'. This is more of a warm, bronzey-gold undertone to it, but actually works super-well in conjunction with the yellow-gold metallic base I used. It's also got subtle flecks of iridescent green running through it, which catch the light beautifully and help add a little something different (and also very festive) too! Then, of course you could easily leave things here, but it's Christmas and I really wanted to add even more sparkle to the situation - cause, why not? - so I just had to go in with yet another glittery polish. To finish things off, I went for another recent new addition of mine - the Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in 'Bling Bling'. A must-needed replacement for my last, well-loved clear gold glitter polish - this is an awesome topper. One coat provides such an intense, high-coverage finish and I really like the random shaped glitter flecks too. It just creates such a nice kind of texture on the nails and the colour is spot-on for this look. A bright, yellow-based gold that aligns itself very much so with the metallic base from Rimmel that I used at the very start - I guess it sort of marries everything I used together into one cohesive, very-Christmassey look. To fully finish things off, lock everything into place and also add one final touch of shimmer - I used the Rimmel Finishing Touch Glitter Top Coat - and that is my Christmas Day Nails for 2018 done and dusted! And I am so, so happy with them. I hope you love them too!
