Moment Of Makeup - Christmas Day Edition #DitsyDecember

One of the many, many things I love about Christmas is the opportunity to really get your glam on and of course, particularly on The Big Day itself. I most definitely did that yesterday and so, as has become somewhat of a tradition round these parts (I've done this kind of post many times before in #DitsyDecember, such as here and here) - I figured I'd share just what I chose to use, makeup-wise, on Christmas Day...

As always when doing any 'special occasion'-type makeup look, I started things off with my Eyes and as I have been doing ever since trying it out a few months back, I primed them using my P.Louise Base in '02 Rumour'. A great, super full coverage base that completely cancels everything out and creates an awesome base - I left it un-set as I always do and went straight into my eyeshadow! And for that, I chose to use one of my faves from this past year - the Revolution X Soph Extra Spice Palette! Using my newer technique, I started on a small brush with the deepest, darkest brown 'Brownies', placing it right into the crease, from inner to outer corner, before gradually blending it out with gradually larger brushes and lighter colours. I went in with a couple of the medium browns - 'Cheesecake' and 'Chocolate Orange' - to buff out the edges, before finishing off the blend with the light orange 'Running Late' - and then it was time for the lid colour! I chose to use the bright, yellow gold in the palette called 'LA Sun', which I just feel is the perfect Christmassey gold, and packed it onto the whole mobile lid, before going back in with some of the medium browns I used in the crease to add some depth to the outer corner and blend the lid colour in nicely.  I kinda mirrored what was going on up top on the lower lashline, taking the darkest brown closest to the lower lashes, before buffing and smoking it out with the lighter colours I used. Then, I really wanted to add a little something extra on the lids - it was Christmas Day, after all - and of course, that was Glitter. Yay! With liquid glitter being my current personal favourite method of adding all things sparkly to my makeup, it had to be one one of those formats and eventually, I plumped for the Barry M Glitter Bomb Glitter Eyeshadow in 'Bling Bling' - a gorgeous, yellow gold liquid glitter. I simply dabbed a pretty hefty layer of this onto my lid, basically all over where I placed my shimmer shade on my lid and I'd say it worked pretty well at quickly, but also effectively making my eye look just that little bit more special, yanno? I then also decided to add a touch of another favourite gold liquid glitter of mine - Collection's Glam Crystals Gel Eyeliner in 'Funk' to the mix, placing it just over the top to add a bit more of a champagne gold, which I felt mixed together with the more yellow-y tone of the Barry M offering nicely! Then, I of course had to do my classic winged liner using my favourite, NYX's Epic Ink Liner, before giving my upper lashes a light coating of the MAC's Extended Play Mascara and using it to go a little heavier on my lower lashes, before applying falsies! And for this, I decided to go for the SoSu Lashes By Suzanne Jackson in 'Dubai' - dramatic, but still very fluttery and wispy lashes. With eyes done, I then filled in my brows using my new favourite brow pencil combination, Primark's Skinny Brow Pencils in 'Tan' and 'Brown', before finishing them off with some of the L'Oreal Brow Artiste Plumper in 'Medium/Dark' to set, add a tint of colour and also some extra fullness with the added fibers too.

I then moved onto my Face, starting by moisturising with my Superdrug Naturally Radiant Day Cream, before priming with the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer to create a nice, smooth base, helping to hydrate the skin and leaving behind a slightly tacky residue to help makeup adhere well too - which is always something that you want for Christmas-time, right? Foundation-wise, I had to go for one of my favourites from this year - the Revolution Conceal and Define Foundation in 'F1' - dotting a good amount all over my face with the ma-hoo-sive doe foot applicator, before blending it in with my usual tool, the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. With that all blended and buffed out nicely, I went in with concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes or areas of redness (though admittedly, this full coverage foundation does a pretty good job of masking that itself) and for this, I chose to use no other than the matching concealer from the same range - the Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer in 'C2'. I clean up my brows slightly using the Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer in 'Porcelain', before setting my general face using the Collection Primed and Ready Invisible Setting Powder and 'baking' my under-eyes, smile lines and any more stubborn areas with my faithful Lottie London 'Ready, Set! Go' Powder in 'True Translucent'. As always, I left this to 'bake' for a few minutes, before moving onto the finishing parts of my face makeup. I contour my cheekbones, temples, nose and jawline using my holy grail NYX Blush in 'Taupe', before really bronzing up the face (it is Winter after all) with the CYO When the Sun Don't Shine Bronzing Powder in 'Fair'. Then, we come to Highlighter! Possibly one of my favourite parts of my makeup routine, especially when really getting my glam on. And, though I had a fair few I really wanted to use, eventually I chose the Doll Beauty Doll Light Highlighter in 'Like A Diamond'. This is a gorgeous, light golden champagne. perfect for my skin-tone and also ideal for a Christmas Day look too! A little of this goes such a long way and it is so, so intense and blinding on the skin - perfect for getting your glow on during the festive season!

Last, but by no means least - we come to Lips! And, with it being Christmas Day, it just had to be red, right? I started by lining (and also over-lining) my lips using the Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in 'Red Dynamite' - an ideal true red lip liner for any classic red lip look - before moving onto the lip colour itself. I kinda struggled choosing which red lip colour to go for as I really do have a lot of favourites, but eventually I plumped for one of my recent new faves - the Wet 'N' Wild Liquid Catsuit Liquid Lipstick in 'Missy and Fierce'. A matte liquid lipstick - a must for Christmas Day when you're constantly eating and drinking - but with such a comfortable formula and a fully opaque finish to boot. Its super powdery matte, but doesn't make the lips look or feel too dry and once it's on, it's definitely one of the longest lasting and hard-wearing reds I own. Perfect! I finished my makeup off with some spritzes of my beloved Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray to help give a more skin-like finish and most importantly, really lock things into place and I was done! I was really happy with how this makeup turned out - super-glam, super-Christmassey and packed full of a load of my favourite products. What's not to love?
