It was my work's Christmas night out the other night and of course, I just had to do my nails up all nice and sparkly and festive-inspired for the occasion! And actually, this look is kinda similar to my last Polish Pick that also featured earlier on in #DitsyDecember here, as my accessories were rose gold-toned and I really wanted my nails to match. But, while on first look they may appear near-identical to each other, actually there are a few noticeable differences both in the polishes I used and the finished look overall too. So, without any further ado - let's take a closer look...
I started things off with a base of the Barry M Molten Metal Nail Paint in 'Copper Mine'. In my last look, I used another shade of these also as a base, but that one was more icy rose gold, whilst this is much more of a true, rich copper. I love using these polishes as a base for a more 'complicated' look involving more than one colour as not only do they provide a good, opaque base, they also give a slight shimmery, metallic sheen that works great underneath the inevitable multiple coatings of glitter I'm about to layer over the top. Two coats and I'm good to go! And for this look, I decided to use my H&M Beauty Nail Polish in 'Copper Cascade'. A very pretty rich copper glitter, but with a mixture of both larger and finer flecks and also slightly interspersed with some that are a lighter golden tone too. So, I guess not only does this polish help add extra dimension to the nails, the addition of a slightly different tone also helps give the look more texture too! This is also a really well-pigmented glitter so only required one good layer to get a really good, even amount of glitter onto the nails. And then, of course you could leave it here but when do I ever do that, right? I obviously wanted to lock things fully into place but I guess I also kinda wanted to take up the opportunity to ad even more sparkle to the situation and so, I used the Rimmel Finishing Touch Glitter Top Coat. Not only does this stuff seal the deal when it comes to making your nails last as long and well as possible, it also adds a shiny finish and with the added fine glitter flecks, adds a final sprinkle of shimmer too! What more could you want, eh? I must say, I was pretty darn pleased with how these nails turned out...
Gorgeous nail look – copper is such a festive colour for this time of year! I like Barry M nail polishes, particularly the sparkly glittery ones plus they are a cruelty-free brand. Also your idea of layering different kinds is really effective. You’ve reminded me to paint my nails too. :-) xx
