How To: Clean Your False Lashes

As I'm sure you already know, I love a good pair of false lashes. And possibly even more so recently, I've really been loving them. You may recall at the end of last year, I started trying some new lashes, more so in the sort of style I wanted to start wearing from now on and so far, I'm into it. I always have worn fairly dramatic lashes, but the new styles I've picked up recently and have been trying out definitely are that one step further. And so far, not only do they seem to apply so much easier and quicker, I've also found that they clean up so much easier and I can get so many more wears out of them - all because they negate the need to apply so much mascara onto them! Instead of loading them up all the way through as I used to in order to get a more full-on effect, as these are so much 'more' on their own, a simple wiggle at the base to blend them with my natural lashes is all I need now. I guess because they apply basically in one go helps too, as there's much less glue to remove from the lash band aswell. So, I suppose with me now properly getting into re-using and cleaning-up my falsies - I thought I'd share with you all the 'routine' and steps I take to do so...

  1. Pick up your used lashes, holding them gently between your fingers. Take a cotton bud and soak it generously in your makeup remover (I personally like yo just use my classic Garnier Micellar Water!).
  2. Gently rub it along the lash band - where all of the glue and excess makeup will generally be on your lashes. You'll notice any makeup will soon lift and the glue will soften, but not not totally remove. So, time for the next step...
  3. Take a slim, pointed, sharp-ish pair of tweezers and gently use one side to gently separate the glue from the lash band. I usually find if you find one point on the lash band where you can easily and carefully do this, the rest of the glue will usually start to lift too with it - meaning you can just gently peel it all away. Continue to carefully pull the glue away from the lash band, until all (or as much as you can remove) is gone.
  4. Sometimes after wearing a pair of lashes, or even just after cleaning them up afterwards, the curved lash band can get a little misshaped so if you feel this needs reinforcing, gently wrap them around something like the barrel of a makeup brush to give them their shape back, before carefully placing them back in their case or packaging - ready to use again next time. And you're all done!
