The Many Uses Of A Pressed Powder...

Before I started to finally appreciate the power of a good loose powder (mainly, for 'baking' the face), I have always been a fan of a pressed variation. Te original way of setting your makeup into place, removing any excess shine and just ensuing things last as long as possible. But, there's actually a few other ways of utilising yours that you may have never thought about...

...TO SET THE FACE - The obvious one, but it's still worth a mention, right? Like I said, before I really got into a good translucent loose powder, the pressed variety was where it was at for me (and I'm sure a lot of other people too). And the main way of using it was of course to set my face into place - and still to this day, it remains that way, except that I now use a loose powder on areas I really want to fully lock down, like under my eyes and around my smile lines!

TO BUFF AWAY MISTAKES - Made a makeup mishap and starting to panic and fearing you may need to wipe it all off and start again? Don't worry! Whether it be that you've over-applied your bronzer or contour powder, need some extra help in brushing away fall-out from your eyeshadow with your powder brush or want to sharpen up the outer edge of your eyeshadow - a pressed powder will become your new best friend!

TO CREATE THE PERFECT EYE BASE - Nowadays, a 'wet' base is all the rage for eyeshadow - where you use a designated eye primer or base and leave it un-set before going straight in with your eyeshadows. However, whilst I love that technique, I still maintain that if I want to use something else (like a concealer), I still need to fully lock that into place before going ahead with my eye look - if not, things will just become one, big creasy mess! So, I find sweeping some pressed powder on a small fluffy eye brush beforehand will always avert that issue - yay!

AS A 'TRANSITION' EYESHADOW - Need to soften the edges of your eyeshadow? Finding it difficult to get that perfect blend? Try incorporating a little of your pressed powder into the mix! Again, just take a little on a good ol' fluffy blending brush and gently buff over any unwanted harsh lines and you may just find it to help get the job done...

TO INSTANTLY MATTIFY A LIPSTICK - Finally, a hack I discovered myself a few years back and have always remembered - and it's for the lips this time! I know, I know - powder on the lips? Just listen up. Ever got a lipstick that's a little too shiny of glossy and you just want to make it matte? Try putting a tissue over the top of your lips and lightly dusting some pressed powder over the top. Then, take the tissue away - and there you have it! An instant matte lip. Yay!
