The Perfect Pink Lip...

In the Spring/Summer, I love a good, bright pink lip. It seems to be the colour I want to wear the most in the warmer months, if I'm after a bright or bold colour (and anything that's not a nude, basically) and so, when picking out items for my Birthday (as I 'hauled' here) - a vibrant, hot pink lip just had to be something I added to the line-up. And one that had caught my attention before and I'd wondered about trying was one of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks. Having bought, tried and really loved two lovely nude shades that I picked up late last year, I was up for trying more colours - particularly, something more bright and bold. So, after having a good gander at the shade range, I ended up coming across the gorgeous, hot pink of the collection - 'Prom Night'. I quickly added it onto the list and finally the other day, got around to giving it a go for the very first time...

I actually picked myself up a new lip liner especially for this colour as soon as I knew I was going to receive it as part of my Birthday Present as I wasn't sure I'd have anything that'd match it well. I saw online that the NYX Liquid Suede Liquid Lipstick in 'Pink Lust' was a good dupe for 'Prom Night' itself, so I figured if I picked up the matching lip liner for 'Pink Lust' - namely, the NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner in 'Pink Lust' - it would hopefully work well. And, thankfully, it really does! First off, as a lip liner itself, it's really nice. Well-pigmented, creamy (but not too slippery) and very easy to use in terms of lining (and overlining) the lips and even filling them in if you fancy too! But, not only that, the colour of this is an almost spot-on perfect match for 'Prom Night'. Yay! I was so happy when pairing these two together for the first time and I saw they really did complement each other perfectly. And the finished colour - oh my, I love it. Such a gorgeous, bright,  Barbie-esque hot pink that sits just perfectly between being slightly blue-toned, but with enough warmth in it to be super flattering on the lips. The formula is just as I've come to expect before from this range of liquid lips - fully opaque in one coat, easy to apply, dries in no time at all and really locks into place all day or night long - and whilst, like most liquid lipsticks, it comes with a super-matte finish - it really doesn't feel uncomfortable or overly drying to wear on the lips, nor does it make your lips looks dry in anyway either! All in all, I think this may just become my new, go-to, bold lip for Spring/Summer...
