I tried a handful of brand-new polishes the other day, so naturally - knew it was time again to do a 'Polish Pick' all about them and of course, the finished look overall! Something nice and rosey and sparkly - what's not to love?
They're pretty much all new colours I picked up when shopping on my Birthday a few months back. I know, it was a little while ago now - but it's only now I've finally gotten around to giving them a go! They're all from L.A. Colors - a brand I'd personally never seen or tried anything from before - but the colours were all so damn pretty that I knew I had to try a few out. And when I at last came to giving them a go, I realised that they were all from the same kind of pinky, rosey colour family - so, why not try them all out at once and use all three in the same look? Killing two (or three) birds with one stone and all that. First off, I started with the main 'colour' of the three - their Metal Nail Polish in 'Crystal Pink'. This is a gorgeous metallic, icy rose gold and it was actually really rather nice - gave solid coverage with two coats, dried quickly between and the colour is just so pretty too! The brush isn't the best I've ever used - it's quite thick and squared-off and nowadays I much prefer the thinner, more flexible brush tips with a rounder shape that hugs the cuticle bed better. But, for such a gorgeous colour and affordable price, I can make it work and that's the main thing, right? Then, once that was all dry, I went over the top with the next colour - a shimmer/glitter topper-type shade, but with a slightly sheer base. This is from their Unicorn Sparkle range, in the shade 'Candy Cloud'! A mid-toned, fuchsia pink with lots of yellow gold shimmer running through it - super pretty! Like I said, this is definitely more of a 'top coat'-type shade as it's pretty sheer in coverage, but in terms of layering over a more pigmented base (like I'd already laid down with the metallic colour) - it works rather well! I applied just the one coat of this as I didn't want things to start getting too heavy with all the different polishes I had to try and moved onto what I though to be the final step - glitter! And this is their Color Craze Glitter in 'Cocktail'. This looks like such a pretty, multidimensional shade in the bottle - almost like a holographic pink type colour. But, unfortunately, when applied to the nails it's kind of a bit of a letdown. It's so sheer in coverage that hardly any glitter actually makes it onto the nails in one layer and I'd imagine you'd have to apply a lot of coats to build it up to something more intense - which is what I wanted. So, after one coat of that I decided to add the final finishing touch, I'd use an old favourite of mine from my current collection - Essie's Glitter Polish in 'A Cut Above'. I just love this glitter for finishing things off, especially in rosey-toned looks like this - and I think it did the trick!
