Once you get all your Christmas shopping completed - the next step is of course to start wrapping it all up! A long, tedious-sounding task at first but I always find once I actually get started on it, I can get it done kinda quickly and efficiently. And you know, I really think that's partly down to me getting all of the essentials that I need all together and ready to go. I've done a couple of posts about Christmas Wrapping in #DitsyDecember before during other years here and here but never really broke it down to the pure essentials. So, today let's discuss just what I have to have on hand for all of my festive present wrapping...
A GOOD TAPE DISPENSER - Always find yourself struggling with the tape when you're trying to hold down the paper, hold the tape and also tape the actual present down at the same time? Buy a tape dispenser - seriously, they are a game-changer! It just makes the whole process so much easier, less annoying and also so much quicker too - which is great for when you're trying to glitz through wrapping all of the presents you've bought...
SOME PRETTY (AND GOOD QUALITY) WRAPPING PAPER - Of course, the main thing you want for this is pretty, festive, decent-quality wrapping paper. And by this, I don't necessarily mean you have to spend a fortune on it. Nowadays, you can get gorgeous, pretty high-standard wrapping paper basically everywhere and for such a good price too. Just choose whatever pattern/s that tickle your fancy and go in with your chosen colour scheme and you'll be good to go! Personally, I always like to get myself a selection of different colours/patterns each year (all of which somewhat go together and create a nice colour scheme) so I can mix and match and always really like the finished result!
... WITH MATCHING(ISH) ITEMS IF POSSIBLE - Can't (or don't want to) wrap a certain present up - cause it's perhaps one of those 'difficult' shapes that just ends up looking like a football? A gift bag will likely be the best route to go down - and for that, I'd always suggest trying to either get one in the same pattern/s of the paper you're using, or just one of the same colour family that whilst not the same, ties in nicely.
DECORATE, DECORATE, DECORATE - Now - onto perhaps the most exciting, fun part that I always enjoy the most - decorating everything! Over the past few years, I've really gotten into decorating my presents and making them look super pretty and Christmassey. And for that, you're gonna want your ribbons, bows and all of that kinda good stuff. Maybe if the paper you're using is more on the 'plain' side, you could even use stamps or stickers to embellish the paper itself! The world really is your oyster...
DON'T FORGET TO TAG IT! - Last, but certainly by no means least - don't forget to tag your gifts! Again, for this you can always opt for matching gift tags to tie in completely with whatever wrapping paper or gift bags you've chosen - or maybe just instead, something that complements it well. Just ensure you tag all of your gifts - and that you tag them correctly!
