Moment Of Makeup - Christmas Day Edition #DitsyDecember

One thing I really love about Christmas is the opportunity to get your glam on. Not that I ever really need an excuse, but it's always good when you have one - and the festive season is definitely that for me! So, just like I always do round these parts, I thought I'd share what I planned to wear makeup-wise this Christmas Day and Boxing Day...

As always when I do properly glam makeup, I started with my Eyes and firstly primed them using my chosen concealer for this look, the Revolution Conceal and Hydrate Concealer in 'C1'! I simply blended some across my entire mobile lid using my beauty sponge before lightly (and I mean lightly) setting it using my chosen pressed powder - Collection's Primed and Ready Invisible Setting Powder. I then started on my eyeshadow and for this, I decided to use my Revolution Reloaded Palette in 'Velvet Rose'. I discovered this in 2019 and it's quickly become one of my go-to neutral palettes - it's got a mix of cool and warm tones and of course, with it being Christmas, it was the latter I was after this time around! This has basically all of the warm neutrals I was after and the quality is awesome too. I started by packing one of the deepest, rich browns right into my crease and outer corner, before gradually using larger brushes and lighter matte shades to create that seamless blend! Then, once the matte base was done and dusted - it was time for a sparkly lid shade - and of course, I had to go for the super-sparkly, true yellow gold! This is such a gorgeous formula too - it's the most intense shimmer in the palette, it feels almost 'wet' in the pan and you have to use your fingertip to get it to adhere well to the lid. So, I simply use my finger to take this across my entire lid, before using some of the matte shades to help diffuse the edges as it reached the outer corner! Then, whilst I was tempted to leave things there, to add the final finishing touch to my eyeshadow - I decided to add some 'proper' glitter! And for that, I just had to use my Technic The Glitz Liquid Glitter Shadow in 'Gold'. A stunning liquid glitter shadow in again, that true, warm gold hue that we all associate with Christmastime. I simply took some of this on a small, flat brush and gently patted it over the top of where I placed the glittery gold eyeshadow - focusing it mainly towards the inner corner, fading it out as it reached the centre of my lid - and I was done! Eyeshadow completed, I just had to add a classic black wing to the look - and of course, I used my NYX Epic Ink Liner to do so. As I was doing my eyes first, I then took a makeup wipe to gently clean up my liner and eyeshadow and ensure it was that perfect, crisp, winged-out shape I was after, before moving onto my Face!

I started off my Face Makeup (I'd already moisturised before) by applying my favourite long-wearing primer - Rimmel's Lasting Finish Primer. A small amount of this all over really does help not only my makeup apply smoothly and look flawless, it also really helps keep it in place too - an essential for Christmas! I then followed this with my favourite foundation at the moment (especially for full glam makeup looks like this) - Revolution's Conceal and Hydrate Foundation in 'F2'. Medium-full coverage, easy to blend, a lovely satin finish that sits beautifully on the skin and lasts impeccably all day/night long! What's not to love? After blending that all in, I then obviously went in with concealer - and I of course used the same one as I used to prime my eyes, the Revolution Conceal and Hydrate Concealer in 'C1'! Because not only does this concealer work amazingly as a base for eyeshadow, it's also an awesome concealer too - with great coverage, a lovely smooth finish and long-wear formula! I do of course use my faithful Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer, though, just for anything I perhaps need an extra layer of coverage - or to help clean up areas such as the brows later! Then, to set everything into place, I firstly take that same pressed powder - the Collection Primed and Ready Invisible Setting Powder - pretty much all-over my face, before 'baking' my under eyes and smile lines using my fave loose powder, Lottie London's 'Ready, Set! Go' Translucent Loose Finishing Powder. I leave that to 'bake' whilst doing my eyebrows - filling them in using my Primark Skinny Brow Pencils in 'Tan' and 'Brown' and setting them (whilst also adding a tint of colour and extra fullness) using my L'Oreal Brow Artiste Plumper in 'Medium/Dark'! I then gently brush off my 'bake', before moving onto finishing off the face...

To do so, I firstly contour using my holy grail - NYX's Blush in 'Taupe' - before bronzing up my skin using my current go-to, the MUA Bronzed Matte Bronzer in '100'. This is such a great bronzer - super cheap, yet such a buttery and pigmented formula and that perfect matte finish too! I then go in with what has now become a staple in my makeup routine - the Revolution Pro Skin Finish Powder in 'Opalescent'. Ever since MakeMeUpMissa introduced me (and many others) to this, it's an essential - a light dusting all over my face just gives such a lovely, general glow to the complexion! Then, to actually highlight I chose out the highlighter that I just love to use now for special occasions - the OFRA X NikkieTutorials Highlighter in 'Glazed Donut'. The perfect light, icy champagne glow that' so intense, yet also so smooth and sheeney! And honestly, I applied this pretty heavily both in terms of where on the face and also how much I used as it's Christmas so - why not? Gotta get your glow on! Then, with the rest of my face done and dusted, I finished off my Eyes. I basically used the same mattes I used on my upper lid on my lower lash-line (taking the deepest shade closest to the lashes, before buffing it out with some of the lighter hues) before giving both my upper and lower lashes a good coating of mascara - namely, the MAC Extended Play Mascara as it does. not. smudge. or. budge! I also applied some lashes of course - and this time, I chose out one of my favourite styles, the So Su X Primark Glam Lashes in 'Dubai'! Super dramatic perhaps for Christmas, but again - why not?

Finally, it was time for Lips! And I think it's no big shock that I of course went for a red lip - a festive classic! I firstly lined, defined and definitely over-lined my lips using the Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in 'Red Dynamite' (one of my favourite red lip liners), before going in with a good ol' red lipstick! And though I did struggle a little when it came to picking what one to go for, in the end I plumped for one of my recent new favourites - the Revolution Powder Matte Lipstick in 'Fascination'. A gorgeous true red that just screams 'Christmas' - it had to be done. The formula of this is perfect for wearing over Christmas too because as the name suggests, it's a super matte lipstick (almost like the formula of MAC 'Ruby Woo' - which is another matte lippie I love to wear for Christmas) and so it really does stay in place all day long, even throughout the constant eating and drinking over Christmas Day and Boxing Day! However, whilst it has got that powder matte finish, it doesn't look or feel drying on the lips at all - which is of course awesome. Then, finally, with all of my makeup fully complete - I obviously set things into place with a generous spritzing of my holy grail Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. And that was my festive makeup done and dusted...
