The end of the May is in sight already and so, it's time once again to go through all of my monthly favourites of past and see just whether I still love or use them to this day. Of course, this time around it's all of my editions from the month of May and I'm pretty keen to see just what I was enjoying, beauty-wise, this time one/two/three/four years ago! Let's get started...
- Starting off, as always, with the very first monthly favourites year for Dainty Ditsy - 2015 - and this time, I'd say we have a bit of a mixed bag. I still really enjoy a couple of the nail polishes featured here, Impulse's Very Pink remains one of my go-to's for if I ever want a body spray and the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle is also still my favourite deep conditioning treatment for my hair - though admittedly, I prefer a different version nowadays to the one in this post! However, as for everything else - I'm afraid to say I'm just not so into them as I was this time, four years ago. Tanya Burr Cosmetics no longer even exists (boo!) but nevertheless, I am much more of a full strip lash kinda gal now over Individual Lashes and I actually decluttered all of my Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liners a while ago, having finally decided I just do not get along with them as well as their traditional pencil ones!
- 2016 was another sort of mixed one too - with some firm faves and some fails! I still adore my MAC Lipsticks and both the Lip Lingeries and Soft Matte Lip Creams from NYX, the Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint in 'Laguna' remains a go-to shade of mine for Spring/Summer every year and the Real Techniques Bold Metals '200 Oval Shadow' Eyeshadow Brush is still a firm favourite for whenever I want to do a super-simple eye look and just whack one shade all over the lid and leave things there. I also still really like my Lottie London Solid Brush Cleaner for whenever I want to clean my beauty sponge! However, aside from those - everything else in here just aren't in my staple beauty routine anymore. I've since found a better gradual tan moisturiser over my old fave, Palmers Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturiser; I now much prefer other body lotions from Soap and Glory over their 'Butter Yourself' Moisture Lotion and I also have a new favourite face lotion that's well overtaken my Simple Protecting Light Moisturiser too.
- This was a pretty makeup-heavy edition and I definitely have a few items I still adore and others not-so-much. I still really like the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes, but admittedly I really do not use them as much anymore - the same goes for the Lipsticks too! Then, talking of lippie, the Maybelline Color Sensational Nude Matte Lipstick in 'Beige Babe' is also no longer a fave of mine. However, unlike the Tanya Burr ones, this one I actually no longer enjoy wearing - I found it just didn't suit me or work for me well, so much so I ended up decluttering it a while back! Also from Maybelline, their Baby Roll Mascara I really do like and want to revisit again some point soon, but you know what it's like with mascaras. You try one, it runs out, you try another - yanno? However, like I said, I must get round to picking this old favourite up again soon! Then, we come to the Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder. I still really like this and would definitely use it again, however I think we all know right now I'm all about the Lottie London one - so perhaps it won't be for a while! Nails-wise, both the polishes from Barry M and Maybelline are still favourites in my collection (we all know how much I love the Barry M Molten Metals Range). However, I must admit I haven't picked up the Garnier Face Masks in a while - I think I definitely prefer their Sheet Masks overall...
- So, then we come to this time, last year - 2018! And funnily enough, I actually feel this edition was most definitely the most successful, in terms of what I still love and use regularly now. I still adore the Revolution X Tammi 'Tropical Paradise' Palette and use it a hell of a lot, the Zoeva 134 Luxe Powder Fusion Brush is still my go-to highlighter brush and the Barry M Glitter Bomb Glitter Eyeshadows remain a staple in the glitter compartment in my 'Eye' drawer. Easy to use, but super-effective whenever I want to add a little extra somethin' somethin' to my eye look. Yes, I may use the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick in 'Strapless' a little less right now (at the moment, 'Be My Baby' is my favourite nude/neutral shade from that particular range) but I still do really like it and use it occasionally and as I mentioned earlier, the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor is my go-to, holy grail hair treatment. This was the one I was on about earlier in this post when I mentioned how I've moved onto a different version of this deep conditioner! I think I've found that the original is definitively the best (although, as you'll see in my next post, I might have found an exception to this). If anything, the one thing I'm not as obsessed with right now is the NYX Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter in 'Crystal Glare' - though it does remain one of my favourites for if I ever want a liquid/cream highlighter!
