Somehow, we're already at the end of August. Just where is this year going, eh? So, as always, it's time for my last two posts of the month, that centre on my monthly favourites! My next one is of course all about what I've been loving this month, August 2019. But, for today, I'm taking a trip down memory lane again and seeing just what I was using and enjoying this same month, but of years past. Let's jump right on in...
- August 2015 had some gems in there, let me tell you. Not only did I discover one of my favourite bronzers - Soap and Glory Solar Powder - I also fell in love with one of my favourite perfumes, Marc Jacobs' Daisy! I even seemed to have tried for the first time what was to later become one of my holy grail highlighters - theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer - that same month too! I became a big fan of the Real Techniques Fan Brush - which is still to this day a go-to tool of mine for getting my glow on - and I reignited my love with what are still go-to mascaras of mine when I've run out and want to go back to an old favourite instead of trying something new - Maybelline's The Falsies and The Rocket. Normally, the 2015 posts tend to be the most unsuccessful in this series, in terms of what I'm still using and enjoying to this day - but I suppose this one's the exception...
- Looking back, this edition is actually slightly more of a fail, to be honest! I say 'slightly' as there are still products in here that I love and use regularly to this day - my L'Oreal Glow Face Mask, Primark Lip Liners, Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette and - of course - my holy grail setting spray, Urban Decay All Nighter - but aside from those, the rest aren't even really kicking around in my collection at all anymore, let alone using all the time at the moment!
- Moving onto 2017, I first had the OGX Lemon Highlights Shampoo and Conditioner Duo which, whilst I really loved at the time, I've since moved onto their Lavender Range and - as you may know - that collection has now become my holy grail for keeping my hair clean and in good condition and my blonde colour looking bangin' too. I also don't really use the L'Oreal Bright Face Mask either for the same kind of reason - their 'Glow' version in the same range eventually overtook it and became my go-to - it's still a good mask though! As for the Zoella Beauty Jelly and Gelato Collection, this was the annual Summer range that year and whilst I loved it, as always it's since been discontinued - and the whole Zoella Beauty brand is soon coming to a close overall too, boo! So basically, I would still happily use it all, but I can't unfortunately. I don't really use the Ardell Lash Applicator much anymore - since then I've got a lot better at applying lashes in general and find it easier to just use my fingers and a pair of tweezers - and as for the two nail-related items, I still kinda use them both a lot to this day! Maybelline's Fairy Spell Nail Polish remains a favourite for when I want a pretty, holographic top coat and the Essence Clean and Start Nail Cleanser is something I go back to, time and time again for if and when I might be applying false nails or even if I just really want to try and make my polish last as long as possible!
- Finally - we come to 2018 - this time, last year! First up we have, again - another Zoella Beauty Collection that is since gone for good, but if I could, I would still be all over - 'Splash Botanics'! So, whilst I'd love to still be using it all, I can't - boo! I do still use and love the Batiste Dry Shampoo in 'Bare', though - it's still my go-to dry shampoo to this day. I love the Batiste formula and this scent is just perfect, so light and almost undetectable! I also still love the Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Cleansing Pads and use them pretty much daily too - ideal for keeping my skin bright, fresh and exfoliated. Then, for the Makeup - I'd say I still really enjoy and regularly utilise most of it! I picked up some new lip products that same month in London and quickly fell in love - MAC's Matte Lipstick in 'Velvet Teddy' and NYX Slim Lip Liners in 'Natural' and 'Peekaboo Neutral'. All pretty nude shades and all colours I still find myself reaching for a year on. I'm so happy I finally jumped on the 'Velvet Teddy' bandwagon! I obviously still love and use the Revolution X Soph Highlighter Palette as I only just mentioned it again round these parts a couple of weeks ago and the Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in 'Pink Slip' is still very firmly in my collection and a shade I continue to go back to whenever I want a pretty, mid-toned rose shimmer for my nails! The only thing I'd say I'm not reaching for a year on is the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation. But to be honest, I did really love it - so much so that I used it all up not long ago! And with me having various other awesome bases in my stash right now, I just haven't felt like repurchasing just yet. But perhaps one day I will - stay tuned...
