And just like that, here we are at the end of the August. It's nearly September - Wow. The fact that time seems to be disappearing before our very eyes aside, let's talk everything I've been loving, beauty-wise, over the past few weeks, yeah? There's a right ol' mix this month, so let's get started...
ZOELLA BEAUTY 'SPLASH BOTANICS' COLLECTION - First off, let's talk the most recent Zoella Beauty range. Every Summer, Zoe comes out with yet another awesome collection and this year really is no different. I really think this year's range - with it's super sophisticated scent and gorgeous tropical-themed packaging - is perhaps one of, if not my favourite collection she's done so far. I personally picked up three items and love them all - I've already been getting very good use out of them all already. If you're yet to try anything out yourself, definitely pop into your local Superdrug and give it a sniff!
SUPERDRUG NATURALLY RADIANT GLYCOLIC CLEANSING PADS - Remember a while ago when I ran out of these pads and couldn't manage to get my hands on another tub of them so I gave something else a go? I liked it and I definitely enjoyed switching things up for a bit, but I won't lie, I did miss having these in my routine. So, when I finally managed to get hold of a new pack, I was pretty darn happy and have been loving using them all over again ever since. They're just so, so great for ensuring every last scrap of makeup is off your face, all whilst softly exfoliating your skin and leaving it feeling and looking super-soft, smooth and really glowy too.
MAYBELLINE DREAM SATIN LIQUID FOUNDATION IN '02 FAIR BEIGE' - This foundation has been in my stash for a while now and though I've loved using it previously, for some reason this month I have been thoroughly obsessed with it. It's basically all I've been using, foundation-wise, throughout August and it. is. awesome. The colour is a perfect match for me and the formula and finish is also great too. It blends like a dream, sits super well on my skin and gives a nice, medium coverage that can be sheered out or built up as you like it. It strikes that perfect balance between being not too dewy, nor too matte - it just looks nice and 'skin-like' - and once on and set, lasts all day with no issues at all. I can see myself finishing this bottle up very, very soon...
REVOLUTION X SOPH HIGHLIGHTER PALETTE - Yet another makeup item that I've well and truly found myself running back to this month is this awesome highlighter palette. Ever since this launched almost a year ago now (wow), I have been all kinds of obsessed with both. Like, I'm sure you all know by now. However, like with most things, over time I've been trying and loving other brilliant highlighters and though I've still been using this one, it's not been as much of a go-to of mine - until recently, that is. I picked it back up not long ago and basically ever since, it has been the only highlighter I've been using. I love a lot of the shades inside and find many of them to work for me (whether used alone, or mixed together) but right now, the second, champagne pinky-tone from the top far left is my favourite. It's super-blinding, sits really smoothly on the skin and just looks all glowy and gorgeous (even if I do say so myself). What more could you want?
MAC MATTE LIPSTICK IN 'VELVET TEDDY' - The other week, I went to London for the day to do some good ol' shopping and as you would have seen in this post I did not long after, I picked up a few beauty bits 'n' bobs - this lipstick from MAC being one of them. I have lusted after this old classic shade for so, so long and finally, I thought - why not just give it a go? And I am so glad I did. This is perfect light, beigey-nude for me. It's basically like my natural lip colour, but better - and that's exactly the sort of nude I love. The formula is great, just like any matte MAC Lipstick I've tried before - fully matte, but slightly creamy and still very comfortable on the lips - and once on, it stays put rather a long time too. I think this might just be a new, go-to nude lip of mine...
NYX LIP LINERS IN 'NATURAL' AND 'PEEKABOO NEUTRAL' - Also whilst in London - again, as you would have seen from that same post - I picked two more lip products. I love, love, love a good lip liner. It helps to shape my lips, overline (something I really love doing) and also act as a good base for whatever I place on the top. I use it basically every time I do my lips and I'm always after buying and trying more - especially when it comes to nude shades. With a few of my favourites running out - and me just wanting to try new colours and formulas - I picked up a couple from NYX. I always hear good things about their lip liners and having tried them out myself before, I definitely agree so I was hopeful these would been good'un's. And let me tell you, they certainly are. The formula is creamy enough to glide on easily, yet waxy enough to give control and also stay put and these colours are just perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Both perfect nudes - one more beige-y, one more rosey - and both very much MLBB-type shades, of which I don't own a load of already. I'm in love with these already - especially when used in conjunction with my latest nude lip love that I mentioned above.
MAYBELLINE COLOR SHOW NAIL POLISH IN 'PINK SLIP' - Moving onto Nails, I've used and loved quite a lot of lacquers this past month, but this one has cropped up in a fair few looks, so I figured it was worth a mention. A metallic, mid-toned pink laced with fine silvery shimmer - it's perfectly fine as a stand-alone polish, but as I sad, lately I've been using it in conjunction with others to create various looks and it's worked like a dream every single time. You can see it in action here and here if you fancy!
BATISTE 'BARE' DRY SHAMPOO - Last, but certainly by no means least - a cheeky lil' Haircare shout-out for this month. You know that of all the brands and formulas, COLAB will always have my heart, dry shampoo-wise, but when it came to picking up another bottle I saw that my good ol' Batiste was cheaper, so I picked this up instead. Yes, you maybe have to be a little more careful with it and yes, it may be a little thicker and take a little more time and effort to buff out and ensure no white residue, but used right, this still works perfectly well as a dry shampoo - taking away any greasy root areas and extending your wash that little bit longer. Also, though I don't really use dry shampoos in this way, this formula is also much better for adding volume and texture - if that's your kinda thang...
So, that's everything I've been loving in August! A good ol' mix this month, I feel - and a load of good products too. I hope you enjoyed this monthly round-up, as always, and perhaps came across some things that tickled your fancy and you might try out for yourself. Let me know!
