It's the end of the month (and also the last post of the month) again and so that can only mean one thing - my beauty monthly favourites! Wanna know everything beauty-wise that I've discovered (or maybe just rediscovered) over the past four-ish weeks and been utterly obsessing over? Just keep on reading...
FENTY BOMB BABY MINI LIP AND FACE SET - After my Birthday, I had a Boots voucher to spend and also, Fenty just launched there - so I knew I had to use it to finally try something out from them! I thought this cute little mini duo would be a good shout as it was pretty good value for money and also you get two products to try. At last this month I gave them a go and so far, I'm loving them! The highlighter in 'Hu$tla Baby' is just gorgeous - just light enough for my skin-tone and with a smooth, non-glittery glow! The lipgloss (in the original shade, 'Fenty Glow') is also stunning too. I may not be the biggest lipgloss type of gal, but this is defintely one of the nicest and best ones I've ever tried. So glossy and shiny but at the same time, non-sticky and just 'balmy' feeling on the lips. It really makes your lips look so plump and full and the shade is the perfect kind of pinky-brown nude for me!
REVOLUTION CONCEAL AND HYDRATE FOUNDATION AND CONCEALER - First up, this duo has been my go-to base routine for most of this month, ever since I picked them up and tried them out. As soon as I saw this new foundation and concealer were releasing, I was so excited to try them out and super-hopeful I'd fall in love with them - and I honestly really have. Although I adore the original Conceal and Define family (both the Foundation and Concealer), having more normal/dry skin, I was eager to see whether this more hydrating/luminous formula would be just as, if not even more up my street. And I'd definitely say it is! I still love the classic C&D, but I think this range will perhaps slightly overtake it in usage from now on. I have actually done a dedicated review of this new range earlier this month so instead of rambling on about it in depth in this post - check that post out here! But, in short, I think I've found some new favourite base products!
REVOLUTION X CARMI 'MAKE MAGIC' PALETTE - This palette has been a firm favourite of mine this month! I finally picked this collaboration up a little while ago and only recently got round to cracking it open - but it was more than worth the wait in all honesty! This is already one of my favourite palettes I've ever tried from Revolution. I know, I know - a pretty strong statement to make already after only a couple of weeks trying it - but I already just know this is going to be a palette I reach for and come back to time and time again from now on, just like I do my other top picks. And that's a sure sign of a good eyeshadow palette, right? And actually, it's not the colour scheme that's the main reason I love this palette so much. Don't get me wrong, I love hoe colourful, bold and varied it is, but this time it's more so the formula that's blown me away. If the two bottom rows of 'regular' shadows weren't great enough (the mattes are creamy and nicely pigmented, the shimmers pretty intense and reflective, even when used with just a dry brush) but it's the top row of gorgeous, cream-to-powder, foiled goodness that I just utterly adore. This was the row that I'd heard so many rave reviews about and that eventually sold me the palette in general and oh my - did they all live up to my expectations. Like I said, they're like a cream to powder so are slightly wet in the pan and apply super creamy, but set down quickly to a finish akin to a traditional powder shimmer. They don't need to be set and don't move or crease like a powder but because they apply like a cream, they go on so intense and foiled with even the smallest amount - they look almost wet on the lid. They're all stunning but in particular the bright gold 'Money Maker' and gorgeous blue-brown-pink-purple multichrome at the far right are possibly the most intense and utterly sickening. You need this palette for those two shades alone!
REVOLUTION PRO SUPREME HIGHLIGHTER PALETTE IN 'ICE' - I haven't tried much, if anything at all from Revolution Pro but I'd heard so many things about these mini highlighting palettes that I picked this one up a few months ago. It's only these past couple of weeks that I finally pulled it out of my 'New Stuff To Try' Drawer in my IKEA Alex but honestly, it was so worth the wait! Inside this colourway you get three different highlighters - a pink-tone, a blue-tone and a light, icy champagne in the middle. And, just as I'd heard from others - it's that middle shade in particular that's I've really fell in love with the most. It's so intense and metallic, yet so smooth and not glittery in anyway at the same time. It just makes your skin so sheeney and glowy and I love it! I have tried the rosey, pink highlighter aswell and do quite like that too for if I want a more colourful, 'out there' glow (if I ever go for a more colourful highlighter, I tend to always opt for those pink tones) but for an easy, 'everyday' option - the classic champagne is always a winner!
PRIMARK BROW GEL IN 'DARK BROWN' - I finally used a brow that that isn't my usual go-to - L'Oreal Brow Artiste Plumper - this month after what felt like the longest time and actually really enjoyed it! I picked this one up from good ol' Primark a couple of months back, finally cracked it open these past few weeks and so far - so good! The brush is nice and small and quite slim and so makes a precise application pretty easy peasy, it adds a nice tint of colour and kinda makes my brows look fuller and fluffier too! I'm not sure if this brow gel has any actual fibres in here to make your brows appear thicker, but regardless I feel this does a good job of beefing them up nicely!
REVOLUTION MATTE LIP LIQUID LIPSTICK IN 'WHITE WEDDING' - I tried yet another new shade from this lovely liquid lipstick line from Revolution and so far - I've been loving it! This is a gorgeous mid-toned, warm pinky nude shade which is just perfect for this time of year. Cause, surely it can't just be me who gravitates a lot more towards rosier nude shades in the Summer, right? It's not too light, nor too deep - just ideal for my paler skin-tone - and as always with all shades I've tried from this range so far, the formula is spot-on perfect! It's quite liquidy and applies onto the lips super glossy and creamy, but soon dries down to a super powdery-matte finish and once set, it sure does not move or wear-down easily. I find with these that I only really have to touch-up the very centre of my lips after any eating or drinking (which is usual for most matte liquid lipsticks really) and even then it's rather mininal and aside from that, they stay pretty impeccable all day/night long. This stunning shade is no different, hence why I've enjoyed and gotten so much use out of it this month!
L.A. COLORS NAIL POLISHES - Finally, we come to good ol' Nails! I love discovering good new nail polishes and this time, I tried a whole new brands altogether and so far, I'm liking them! I picked up a trio of lacquers from L.A Colors back when I went shopping on my Birthday and finally got round to testing them out this month. There were all from the same kind of rosey colour family, so I figured - why not use them all together in one look, so I can try them all at once? And I was pretty impressed with them all. Admittedly, the glitter topper was not as full coverage as I'd hoped, but it was still pretty and honestly, the quality of the both the metallic and also the glitter with the sheer coloured base more than made up for it. And they were so damn cheap too! Maybe if I ever come across an L.A Colors stand in the future I'll pick up some more to give a whirl?
REVOLUTION HIGH GLOSS NAIL POLISH IN 'SATIN' - Last, but certainly by no means least - I guess I tried another new nail brand this month too, as Revolution Beauty finally launched their very own range of nail polishes! And I couldn't resist picking up a handful to try for myself and see what they were all about - this being the first one I've cracked open. And as you may guess from it featuring in this post right here, so far I'm pretty impressed! The brush on these is just my kind of brush (thin, super flexible and with a nice, rounded edge that hugs the nail bed nicely) and it makes a good attempt at being full coverage in one coat! I do personally think it looks better and more totally opaque with the regular two layers though. It dries pretty quickly, has a rather glossy finish even before I finish things off with my regular top coat and the shade of this one itself is just stunning - a pinky-mauve with a subtle shimmer running through it. I found it to last pretty well before any chips began to appear (generally the same amount of time that any nail polishes tend to last on me), it removed easily and my nails didn't feel out of the ordinary after doing so either. I can't wait to try out the rest I picked up - hopefully sometime over next month - and report back on my thoughts!
So there we are - all of my top beauty picks from August! A lot of makeup (what's new?) and a couple of gorgeous nail polishes thrown in for good measure. All new products that I can't wait to get even more use out of over the coming months!
