MakeMeUpMissa Made Me Buy It - Part Two!

The lovely MakeMeUpMissa has inspired a lot of my makeup purchases over the past year or so (basically ever since I discovered her amazing channel, really!). I've actually already done a post like this a few months ago here, detailing a few of the items I'd tried because of her recommendation and later fell in love with as a result. However - believe it or not - since then, I've gone on to buy and try more of her suggestions and found some more holy grail favourites and it's got to the point where there's now enough to compile another edition! Let's get started...

ELF HYDRATING CAMO CONCEALER IN 'FAIR WARM' - This original ELF Camo Concealer, while I did like, I didn't love and so I was a little hesitant to pick this newer hydrating version up. However, I was very luckily proven wrong, as I actually do really love this one! It blends out like a dream, sits on the skin so smoothly, feels super lightweight and comfortable and once set into place - doesn't move, fade or crease at all throughout the day! It's got such full coverage with such the smallest amount of product required, but at the same time it doesn't appear heavy or cakey on the skin in anyway. The shade I chose also works perfectly for me too (I have found, like many people, that the shades in both the formulas unfortunately do not identically match up - despite being the same shade names - so I had to opt for a different colour to the one I got in the classic Camo Concealer).

OBSESSION PURE BAKE LOOSE POWDER IN 'LACE' - Missa was raving on about this loose powder for quite a while before I finally caved and picked it up to try for myself and thankfully, I was really pleased I did! Despite it looking perhaps a touch too dark for my paler skin-tone in the pan, the shade actually works pretty perfectly. It sort of matches identically, so admittedly doesn't brighten as much as other, lighter or translucent loose powders I own and use but it's not too dark to leave a cast or darken the complexion, so I'm certainly not complaining! As with any loose powder, I use this to 'bake' my under-eyes, smile lines and any areas I really want to firmly lock into place and find it works like a dream for exactly that. After leaving to 'bake' and gently swiping away the excess, the areas I used this are completely matte and set down, but not looking dry or cakey at all! My skin appears super smooth, doesn't feel heavy or uncomfortable and keeps the same flawless finish - with no creasing or moving around - all day long! It also doesn't leave behind any white cast under flash photography either, which is always something you want in a good loose powder! A testament to how this has become one of my new favourite loose powders - it's already made its way into my Makeup Project Pan 2020 as I'm confident I can use this all up in the next few months...

ELF HALO GLOW SETTING POWDER - This was another loose setting powder I tried after Missa's recommendation and again - I really enjoyed this one too! It's a slightly lighter colour than the one from Obsession, so is better at brightening things up (whilst importantly not leaving behind a white cast under flash photography) and as the name suggests, it also helps add a slight glow to the complexion too. But, do not fear - there is no noticeable, chunky shimmer or glitter in this loose powder - there is simply a subtle sheen running through it. And that just gives this loose powder such a lovely, glowy finish! Again, I use this to 'bake' and it does such a great job of doing so every single time. My skin is left fully set and stays firmly in place all day long and it appears super smooth and not flat or dry in appearance in anyway. As I mentioned, the slightly lighter colour helps gives a nice, bright finish (especially in areas such as under the eyes) and though there is no noticeable shimmer or glitter left behind, I'd definitely say my skin is left with a lovely 'lit-from-within' type of luminosity - which is always a bonus!

ESSENCE CONTOURING DUO IN 'LIGHT' - As soon as this contour palette got the green light of approval from Missa, I found myself adding it to my basket on Wilko and ever since I tried it - it's become my new fave! Seriously, this is the only product I've reached for when it comes to contouring since I added it to my collection. Inside this handy little palette you get two 'contour' shades - a lighter hue and a deeper one - and I just love the set-up. The deeper colour is just perfect for my 'regular' contour colour to sculpt my cheekbones, temples, jawline and so on; whilst the lighter colour has really come in handy for either using to blend things out if I've gone in a little too heavy-handed or for contouring areas such as my nose where I need a slightly lighter shade than what I use to sculpt the rest of my face! The powders are well-pigmented, but not too much all at once and they blend really well with hardly any effort required. And this palette is so small and compact - and so affordable too! I doubt I'll be picking up any other contour product now for the foreseeable...

BENEFIT COOKIE HIGHLIGHTER - Now, onto possibly one of my favourite, favourite finds of late that Missa recommended and I picked up as a result - Benefit Cookie! Missa raved on and on about this highlighter for months and months and finally, I caved and decided to treat myself to it right at the start of this year using some Christmas money and so far, I most definitely have no regrets! This highlighter really is all kinds of awesome. A gorgeous, pearly champagne - it's a drop deeper than some other highlighters in my collection, but it still works perfectly! If anything, it makes a nice change as it doesn't deposit such a stark, white glow but rather a more 'natural' (not natural, but you know what I mean) glow that aligns itself more closely with my actual skin-tone. And oh boy, is this intense. You need the smallest tap of product to give the skin such a blinding, super shiny, gorgeous sheen! Whilst intense, it's still really smooth and doesn't contain any chunky glitter or shimmer - so it just gives a really lovely, almost wet-look to the complexion - which I really love. All in all, this has fast become one of my new favourite highlighters! And I guess, similar to my Ofra 'Glazed Donut', as it's slightly more pricey than others in my collection, it's become a real go-to for a special occasion (not that there's many of those going on right now) or just when I want to feel a little boujee...

REVLON CANDID CONCEALER IN '010 VANILLA' - Missa has recommended this concealer from Revlon for a while now - but not as a concealer, as an eye base! Though I definitely have my go-to's when it comes to eye primers/bases (whether it be actual primers or bass or just my concealer) I am always open to trying new ones to see whether anything better is out there, so I finally decided to give this one a try! And you know what? I have completely fell in love with it! Missa was raving about how well this works as an eye base as you can apply it and then go straight in with your shadows and it does. not. crease. and as a result, your eye look doesn't crease or move around either! I was initially rather sceptical as typically, I find I have to go in and lightly set my eye primer or base with powder beforehand. There are a few exceptions (for example, I find the P.Louise Base or Urban Decay Primer Potion both work fine on me un-set) but other than that, I usually have to set my eye base before applying my shadow if I want my shadows to adhere nicely, blend well and not crease, move or fade throughout the day. And even more so if I'm using a concealer as a base - as they don't have the added priming properties which often given actual eye primers/bases that extra advantage. But, this is an exception and because of that, it's fast become one of my new favourite eye primers! I can apply this concealer to my lids, blend it out and go straight in with applying my shadows and I have no issues, at all! All of my shadows apply super well pigmented, blend like a dream and last impeccably throughout the day. No creasing, smudging, transferring, fading - nothing!

PRIMARK PRIMER WATER - Missa kept saying how good Primark Primer Water was for using to spritz a brush before applying shimmer shadows to help them adhere the best to the lid and apply super pigmented, shimmery and foiled-like and oh my, she was so right! One of the main reasons Missa recommended this one so highly was that it's so cheap and doesn't feel as wasteful as using a more expensive primer/setting spray alternative that many choose such as MAC Fix+ or Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. Cause, with those products being a little more pricey, whilst it feels justifiable using them for their intended purpose, they do kinda feel a little 'too' good for simply dampening your eyeshadow brushes! This does the job, is a fraction of the price and - with me only really using it for this one, kinda minor purpose - lasts for ages too. Yay!

B PERFECT X STACEY MARIE CARNIVAL XL PRO PALETTE - Onto what is perhaps one of my favourite, favourite finds of late due to Missa - this awesome eyeshadow palette! I was already interested in trying this out after trying and loving the original Carnival Palette, but after seeing Missa's review and looks using it - I was sold. And I'm so happy, as this has quickly become one of my favourite palettes in my collection. Same awesome formula as the OG Carnival Palette - with super pigmented, blendable mattes and intense, foiled-like shimmers - just with even more colours! There's a great mix of mattes and shimmers and such a wide selection of shades too. This palette has basically every colour you could need, from your brights and bolds to your neutrals (both warm and cool-toned). I love it!

PRIMARK LIP LINER IN 'TOAST' - I already know and love Primark Lip Liners. They're so super cheap (like, we're talking £1 each - bargain!) and yet they're such amazing high quality at the same time! Plus they come in such a wide range of colours too. But, especially when Missa kept mentioning this shade in particular - I had to pick it up! And it's well and truly ended up becoming one of my new favourite, staple shades! You know how I love my Rimmel 'Tiramisu' Lip Liner? Well, this is very, very comparable to that - a warm, mid-toned brows that works with so many nude lip colours - and I guess that's why I've become so attached to it! It's a super pigmented liner from the get-go, is creamy enough to glide on so easily and smoothly and yet has enough of that waxy texture to allow for a precise and controlled application and also a hardy, long-lasting finish! All in all - big thumbs up for this one...

REVOLUTION PRO SUPREME LIP RELIEF - Last, but certainly not least - this lip balm! I love a good lip balm and this one has fast become one of my top favourites. A super thick, almost solid texture that melts into a more oily consistency as soon as you apply it to the lips - I love it. It instantly makes my lips feel so super hydrated, soft and smooth and appear so much more plump too! It's great as an overnight treatment, throughout the day if I haven't got any makeup on or before applying my makeup - as I've luckily found it works perfectly as a base for my lip colour!
