October has come to a close and it's already that time again where I talk all of my beauty favourites of the past month! It's mainly makeup-based this time round, but there's some real goodies to share so let's just get right into it...
I HEART REVOLUTION COCONUT DREAM HYDRATE PRIMER - Starting off with a new face primer that I tried and have been loving - and also kick-starting off a selection of makeup I mentioned all in this post right here! Remember the Revolution Hydrate Primer I tried a few months back and really enjoyed? Well, because of that, when they released this one as part of a new range in their sister brand (I Heart Revolution) - it inevitably caught my eye! And actually, I think I may even slightly prefer it to the original one I tried. This has a little more of a thicker texture and sinks into the skin a little quicker/easier too - plus it has an even yummier scent aswell! It helps my more normal-dry skin look and feel more glowy and nourished and perhaps most importantly, has great priming qualities too. It leaves behind a slight tacky feeling, so helps any products you apply on top really adhere well and as a result, I find this primer to really help my makeup to last and last pretty impeccably all day/night long!
MAYBELLINE MASTER CHROME METALLIC HIGHLIGHTERS IN 'DIAMOND GLOW' AND 'SANDSTONE SHIMMER' - Two new glow-givers that I tried out this month and have been obsessed with ever since are these two beauties from good ol' Maybelline! Ever since trying the 'Molten Rose Gold' shade ages ago, I have been keen to sample more from the Master Chrome range and finally, I spotted these two colours in store a while ago. It's only now I've gotten round to giving them a go and so far, so good! The former is slightly lighter and more icy; whilst the latter is just a drop darker (though still perfectly fine for my paler skin-tone) and slightly warmer and more peachy in tone. Both gorgeous shades and the formula is consistent with everything I love about 'Molten Rose Gold'. Really nice, creamy textures that easily glide onto the skin, leaving behind a super smooth, sheen-ey finish that's got no chunky glitter or shimmer in it at all. What's not to love?
MAYBELLINE COLOR TATTOO CREME GEL EYESHADOW IN 'SOCIALITE' - Ah, what a blast from the past this one is, right? Back in the day, everyone and their dog used to rave on and on about the Maybelline Color Tattoos - myself included. I eventually caved and tried them for myself and I could easily see what everyone was hyping about. Super creamy, cream pot shadows that are great either alone or as a base for a powder shadow to be applied over the top. However, naturally over time, I have to admit that I have kinda stepped away from them a little - as it seems everyone else has too, as you barely see or hear them mentioned anymore. But, a while ago I saw Maybelline were re-releasing brand new shades (I'm not sure if they're replacements for old colours or just new additions) and generally just re-promoting the whole Color Tattoo family again and as a result, I picked one up to try. Yanno, for the memories and all that! But actually, I really rather like it. I don't know whether they have indeed adapted the formula at all, or whether it's just because all of my ones I have are old and a little dried up, but this one is just so super creamy and easy to both pick up on your fingertip and also apply to the lid. The colour is the perfect, true rose gold with such a lovely warm, reflective shimmer running through it - making it ideal as a lid colour for a plethora of different looks, whether used alone or as a base! They self-set too, so don't crease, move or fade throughout the day even if you do decide to use them alone. I think I may have fallen back in love with these again...
REVOLUTION RELOADED EYESHADOW PALETTE IN 'VELVET ROSE' - The eyeshadow palette of the month for sure goes to this one right here. Finally, after hearing so many good things about it and picking it up what feels like months and months ago - I got round to trying it for myself - and I can definitely see what all the love is about. If you can't tell already, this is a spot-on colour scheme dupe of the infamous ABH Soft Glam Palette - which I love the look of, but not so much the price-point! So, I was happy to get the same kind of feel from it with this much more purse-friendly alternative. Of course, I can't comment on how well this matches up to the ABH offering quality-wise, but as a stand-alone palette it's pretty damn good. Just like all of the Reloaded palettes that I've tried before, considering they're only £4 each - they're amazing! You get such a wide selection of shades and every single one is just as good as the one before. The mattes are creamy and well-pigmented and the shimmers are intense and almost foiled-like, even without a damp brush or use of a finger to apply! In this palette in particular, the golden bronze on the top row is just gorgeous - it feels almost wet in the pan and so needs a finger to pick it up, but once you do it is just so intense and stunning!
MAYBELLINE MATTE INK CRAYON IN 'ENJOY THE VIEW' - Last month, I tried the first shade of this new range and loved it - so much so that I decided to give another colour a whirl! It's another more neutral colour again as, like I said before, this formula isn't completely matte and so wouldn't so much be a go-to for me when it comes to bold, deep or bright shades. But, when it comes to nudes, I think this is awesome - so here we have a slightly deeper, richer, almost terracotta-based nude. And I'd say it's just as good as the shade I tried before. Same precise crayon that makes lining and filling in your lips a dream, same matte (but more satin matte) formula that glides on and offers both decent longevity and great comfort and also great full pigmentation in one layer too! I can see this becoming a new favourite nude lip for me...
REVOLUTION MATTE LIP LIQUID LIPSTICK IN 'DOLLHOUSE' - A liquid lipstick I've really enjoyed this month is another of the Matte Lips from Revolution. A formula I discovered a few months ago when they first launched and has quickly become a go-to of mine - this is the latest shade I've tried - and so far, so good. It's berry, but still with a slight 'neutral' undertone to it, if that makes any sense at all. It's basically like a muted berry lip and I love it!
WET 'N' WILD LIQUID CATSUIT LIQUID LIPSTICK IN 'BERRY RECOGNIZE' - However, with Autumn now in full swing, I have naturally been all about the bold and berry lips again and for this - we all know fully matte (usually liquid lipsticks) are where it's at for me. This one from Wet 'n' Wild became a staple for me last year and it seems to have regained its top position again this time round as I've already been obsessing over it once more. This is just the perfect berry purple for this time of year. It goes on fully opaque in one coat, dries down quickly to a fully powdery matte finish and just lasts and lasts and lasts all day long! Aside from a couple of minimal touch-ups at the very centre of the lips after eating or drinking, it basically stays as it was first applied - and most importantly, doesn't move around or crumble off either!
BARRY M CRYSTAL ROCKS TEXTURED NAIL PAINT IN 'TIGER EYE' - Finally, we have to talk about this gorgeous nail polish. Part of a new range from Barry M - which are basically all full glitter polishes that dry down to that textured, kinda rough finish - so far, I've got round to giving one of the colours I picked up (so far, at least) a go and I really love it! A gorgeous, light champagne that's just ideal if you want a classic, sparkly nail colour - plus, the formula's perfect too! Fully opaque in two coats, dries down quickly and I actually found it pretty hardy in terms of lasting powder too. Perhaps I should've expected no less from an all-glitter polish, but this stuff really did hang around for a long while before any chips appeared! It was still fairly easy to remove though, providing you apply a good base coat. Like I said, these polishes dry down to a more textured finish but I decided to add on a top coat to kind of bring back some shine and smoothness and think I prefer it that way - so that's always an option too!
So there we are - all of my top beauty picks from this past month! I feel like I found (or even just rediscovered) some proper firm favourites these past few weeks - I think you may be seeing more from a lot of these round these parts from now on...
