It's time for my September Beauty Favourites! I've definitely found some good, firm new favourites this month that I can see sticking around for the long run, so I'm pretty excited to share them with you all!
BPERFECT X STACEY MARIE CARNIVAL 3 LOVE TAHITI PALETTE - Of course, I couldn't do this post without mentioning my new palette baby - my BPerfect Carnival Love Tahiti. Oh boy, how I already love this palette, so much. Just like the original Carnival and Carnival XL Pro - this is yet another gorgeous bright, bold, rainbow palette. It's the same amazing (if not even better) quality as the two before - the mattes are super pigmented, with minimal fall-out, really easy to blend and combine together so nicely; whilst the shimmers are creamy, intense and really metallic. Most apply best with a finger, but that's really not an issue as if I'm doing an unstructured look, I can simply use my finger to apply and if I'm going for a more structured cut crease or halo eye, I can use my fingertip to get most of the pigment down before using a small flat brush to get it right up to the edges. As always with the Carnival Palettes, I just adore the bright, tropical colour scheme. With its great mix of textures and super bright colour selection (plus some handy neutrals thrown in for good measure), it's so versatile and can create such a wide range of looks. I certainly cannot wait to pair more colours and textures together in the future, I feel like I've only just scratched the surface! All in all, this has quickly become one of my new favourite palettes and I can certainly see it staying that way for some time to come...
BARRY M PIXIE PRIMER SKIN BLURRING PRIMER - I've tried one of the drop primers from Barry M before (I think it was the Unicorn one) and had really good results, so when I heard MakeMeUpMissa raving about another of them recently - I know I had to give it a try. This one claims to be more concentrated on blurring, smoothing and perfecting the skin for the ideal base for makeup. And you know what? I'd agree with that statement entirely! Simply drop some of this into the palms of your hands (or straight onto your face for that Instagram-worthy application), blend it in and your complexion is prepped and ready to go! This is a runny, but not too watery texture that just sinks into the skin with ease, slightly drying down for that perfect 'tacky' finish that I always look for in a good face primer. It feels so hydrating on my skin and my makeup applies on top seamlessly, with no issues at all. I'd certainly say my skin appeared more smooth and my pores less noticeable - which is always a good thing - and my makeup lasted impeccably all day long. It seems I get along pretty well with this primer drop range from Barry M...
REVOLUTION CONCEAL AND GLOW FOUNDATION IN 'F2' - I was so eager to try out this new foundation formula from Revolution, ever since I saw it was releasing not too long ago. I liked the original Conceal and Define, loved the Conceal and Hydrate - so I was interested to see where this one would fit. And so far, it's safe to say I love it! I'd say I enjoy this formula just as much as the Conceal and Hydrate. This one has a slightly runnier formula and slightly less coverage, but other than that they're pretty comparable. Both blend like a dream, sit lovely and smooth on the skin, with a gorgeous, dewy and radiant finish. And what I also really love is that there's no shimmer or glitter in here - which is great to see. Just pure, healthy, glow!
PRIMARK PS 'FAKE IT' MASCARA - I've always heard good things about the mascaras from Primark and so, when I made my first trip post-Lockdown a few months ago - I decided to pick a couple up to give a go! This one caught my eye as it seems to be a 'dupe' of Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara. Well, at least packaging-wise! And so far, I can safely say I'm pretty impressed. This gives my lashes a lot of length, volume and thickness - all whilst fanning the lashes out nicely at the same time. It makes my lashes nice and curly and fluttery and keeps them looking that way all day long! The formula doesn't claim to be waterproof, but still doesn't smudge, transfer or flake off at all throughout the day. And it's less than £3 a go? A winner all round...
BARRY M LIP REHAB LIP MASK - This lip mask was yet another MakeMeUpMissa recommendation - again, from Barry M - and it's yet another winner! I love a good lip balm or treatment and so when I heard from Missa that this was a good one to go for, I know I had to give it a try. And I love it! This has a lovely, oily texture that glides onto the lips with ease and instantly feels uber-nourishing and hydrating. You can use it before bed as an overnight treatment, throughout the day if wearing no makeup or before your makeup to help your lip products apply and sit really nicely on the lips. You need the tiniest amount, a little goes a really long way - I love it!
BARRY M LIP SCRUB IN 'MANGO' - I recently used up my current lip scrub - the Barry M Lip Scrub in 'Peppermint' - and as I loved the formula of it so much, I decided to try another of the 'flavours'! As you may have guessed from my Project Pan, these tubs of lip scrub last for ages - so you really do get your money's worth here. So far, I really like this 'Mango' flavour too - fresh and fruity, not too sweet and artificial. And the scrub is just as good as before! Scrubby enough to buff away those dead skin cells effectively (yum), but not too harsh and aggravating on the lips...
BARRY M CRYSTAL ROCKS NAIL PAINT IN 'AMETHYST' - I haven't tried a new nail polish in what feels like forever, but a few weeks ago I spotted some new colours in the Barry M Crystal Rocks range and one shade in particular really grabbed my attention. This is such a gorgeous, mid-toned purple with pink and blue running through it - it almost appears like a duo-chrome, shifting between different tones, depending on how it catches the light! As always with the Crystal Rocks formula, this polish applies super shimmery and glossy, before gradually frying down to a pure glitter finish that's textured and more 'matte' in appearance. I personally like to top mine off with a top coat - both to seal things safely into place and also make things more smooth to touch and extra-shiny - and I love the finished effect!
SPECTRUM BRUSHES - I'd wanted to try out Spectrum Brushes for ages and had not too long ago added a few items into my basket on their site, deciding now was the time to take the plunge. I needed (and also wanted) some new brushes and thought it was the perfect opportunity to give the brushes from Spectrum a go! But, before I could get a chance to place my order - I thankfully stumbled upon something. I'm in a Makeup Facebook Page and someone pointed out that you could get a £99 brush set from Spectrum for only £30! The catch? The brush were packed without the protective plastic sleeves and so the handles rubbed against the inside of the makeup bag - creating some black smudges. To be honest, I wasn't that fussed as as long as the brushes themselves are ok, so I decided to give them a try. I mean, I was basically getting pretty much the full range of Spectrum Brushes, for less than a third of the price. And so far, I am most definitely not disappointed! I was actually really pleasantly surprised as the brushes aren't even that badly marked - most have only slight, small smudges and some brushes don't have any at all! And the brushes themselves are just awesome. I've only been using the eye brushes so far (as I have more than enough face brushes right now, but I have saved them for another time when I will need them) and so far, they've really impressed me. They're super soft, apply and blend like a dream, don't shed and wash up as good as new every time!
PRIMARK PS NATURALS BALM TO OIL CLEANSER - Another MakeMeUpMissa recommendation - this time, a face cleanser! Missa was raving about this in a recent video and so, on my next trip to Primark (which was actually my first in a long while, due to everything going on right now) I had to pick one up to try and so far, I'm loving it! As the name would suggest, this is a solid balm cleanser that you scoop some out of, massage on your damp face and it instantly transforms into a liquidy, oily consistency. I personally like to use it as a 'second cleanse' (after using my micellar water as my initial cleanse, to remove any makeup and dirt from the day) so I suppose I can't attest as to how well it removes makeup, but in terms of a second cleanser - I'd say it does pretty well! I actually notice some more makeup residue come off on the muslin cloth after using this (the exact reason a second cleanse is so important) so it does appear to help ensure your makeup is totally removed and your face thoroughly squeaky-clean. The tub is pretty small, so I don't know how long this'll last, but at only £3 a go - it's still a pretty good deal...
So there we have it - my September Beauty Favourites! Let me know in the comments below what you've been loving this month, beauty wise - I'd love to know!
