April: The Love List

Somehow, it's already time for my April Beauty Favourites. March felt like it lasted for an age, but April seems to be over in a flash! Nevertheless, it's that time again to talk through all of the beauty products I've been loving over the past month. And unlike March, this time round I have a lot more top picks so, without any further ado - I think we better get started...

ELF LUMINOUS PUTTY PRIMER - First up, we have this face primer from ELF! Remember when the original ELF Putty Primer was all everyone seemed to be talking and raving about? I was always intrigued, but never got round to making a purchase myself. But, recently they released Luminous and Matte versions and finally, this persuaded me to give the concept a go - and of course I picked up the Luminous! And you know what? I really like it! It's a super thick, almost solid texture that almost melts as soon as it comes into contact with the skin. It blurs and fills in any pores and makes the skin a more smooth canvas to work on and it also leaves behind a slightly tacky feeling on the skin that helps makeup adhere nicely too. And it really does make your skin feel hydrated and appear so glowy and radiant - just as the name would suggest! It does have the slightest touch of shimmer, but it really isn't that noticeable once applied to the skin (to be honest, most of it seems to come away on your hands as you apply it). Honestly, most of the glow comes from the moisturising formula and finish, rather than glitter - which is always a good thing! But, perhaps most importantly - my makeup applies super well and lasts impeccably throughout the day when I use this primer. I just know this will become one of my new go-to's...

ELF HALO GLOW SETTING POWDER IN 'LIGHT' - Another new favourite from ELF comes in the shape of this loose setting powder. This was yet another MakeMeUpMissa recommendation and usually, they tend to be awesome - and this product is certainly no exception! I use it to 'bake' certain areas of my face as I usually would (under-eyes, smile lines and so on) and not only does it do so really well, just as the name suggests, it also adds such a lovely natural glow at the same time! This mattifies effectively, but without making things appear dry or cakey at all and keeps things impeccably in place without creasing, cracking, fading - any of that - all day long. But as I said before, what makes me love this loose powder even more is that is also adds a really nice soft-focus, 'lit from within' style glow to the complexion. There's no chunky glitter or shimmer, it's just got a natural radiance to it and not only does it help ensure things are matte-but-not-flat, it also kind of blurs and smooths the skin whilst it's doing so! What more could you want, eh?

REVOLUTION PRO SCULPTING BRONZER IN 'BAHIA' - The first product from my Revolution Beauty Haul that I did earlier in the month - I have fell in love with this bronzer! Not only is the packaging gorgeous, the product inside - which is what really counts, after all - is even more so. The lightest shade in the range, it is just perfect for me and my colouring. It's not too light, nor too deep and it's got that ideal undertone which is just warm enough - without being orange! It's pigmented, but not too much so that you deposit too much at once - you can control it easily and build up or sheer out as you wish - and it blends like a dream! It's basically an all matte formula - just as I typically like my bronzers - but it still looks so glowy and radiant on the skin. Love, love, LOVE!

ELF BITE SIZE EYESHADOW PALETTES IN 'HOT JALAPENO', 'ACAI YOU' AND 'TRUFFLES' - Another inclusion from my ELF Haul - I just had to include these in my favourites as they really are so, so good and I am in love with them! They're super small and compact, perfect for travel or being on-the-go (not that any of us are doing that right now, or will be for probably a while to come) and are so super cheap too - but you know what? They are such amazing quality! The mattes are really pigmented and blend like a dream, whilst the shimmers are so intense and foiled-like on the lid. Most of them pick up and apply really well with just a flat brush too - there's no need for dampening the brush or using a finger to really get the most out of the shadows, which is always a bonus. The formula is pretty consistent across the three mini palettes I picked out, so now that I've tried a handful and know I love them - I would certainly consider going back to try more of them...

I HEART REVOLUTION TASTY PEACH PALETTE - I have wanted to try an eyeshadow palette from I Heart Revolution for the longest time. It all started with their infamous Chocolate Bar Palettes but I just never got round to actually picking any up - however, since they now seem to have started on their new fruit-themed collection, my interest began to pique again - especially so when I saw this Tasty Peach Palette! In the end, I knew this was the time to give their formula a go at last - so I gave in and made a purchase - and so far, I'm really happy I did. If going on this palette alone, I may just have to give more a go! First off - I love this colour scheme. As the name would suggest, it's packed full of pretty warm tones that combine together to create such a variety of looks that I've been really pleased with. There's a great balance of mattes and shimmers and there's a good gradient of depth in both formulas too. Formula-wise though, I've been really impressed too! The mattes are really well-pigmented and blend easily and the shimmers, though I have found to all need a fingertip to apply, when I do so they apply with no issues and really intense and foiled-like on the lid. Everything lasts really nicely throughout the day without any fading, creasing or crumbling so all in all, I love this palette and would certainly consider trying more from the brand in the future!

MAYBELLINE THE FALSIES LASH LIFT MASCARA - I have had this mascara in my 'New In/To Try' drawer for a while now and finally, when my last mascara finished up - I decided it was time to give it a go! I remember when this launched back towards the start of this year, it got a lot of hype and attention - and that was why I bought it myself in the first place! But, I was interested to finally be able to see for myself whether I liked it or not and so far, I definitely think it's the former! This adds length, volume, thickness but also separation to my lashes - all at the same time as giving such a lovely lifted, fluttery curl too! I have never personally had a lash lift myself, but this mascara certainly gives that same kind of feel I think. I just love the effect it gives and also, most importantly, it doesn't flake off, transfer or smudge at all throughout the day either - which is always what you want from a good mascara, right?

MAKEUP OBSESSION SO BALM LIP BALM IN 'MOJITO' - If you know me, you know I love Mojitos. Like, they're one of, if not my favourite cocktail! So, when I saw this new range of lip balms from Obsession had one with that scent - I had to give it a try. And whilst I was perhaps hoping the scent/flavour would be a little stronger, it is still noticeable nevertheless and it is really nice too. Fresh, minty, slightly citrusy - fab! And not only that, I really love how this works as an actual lip balm too. It's very similar to the Revolution Pro Supreme Lip Relief (as I kind of imagined, seeing as they're sister brands). It's a super thick, almost solid texture that melts upon applying to a more oil-type consistency on the lips. It leaves my lips super glossy and feeling super hydrated and moisturised and it's perfect for applying however you wish. Whether at the start of the day, before bed or before applying makeup - because it works just fine underneath lip products! I'll certainly carry on getting a lot of use out of this one...

REVOLUTION SATIN KISS LIP LINERS - The final Revolution Beauty inclusion, I'm so glad I picked up a handful of these lip liners! As I said in the original post, I decided to pick out more bold/bright colours as I have far less of those in my collection than nude lip liners - but seeing as I enjoyed them so much, maybe some more neutral shades will be next on my 'To Buy' List! These are well-pigmented, apply super smoothly and easily with hardly any pressure required and no dragging or skipping and they stay put on the lips pretty well throughout the day too!

TOO FACED HANGOVER 3-IN-1 SETTING SPRAY - I also had a gift card to use this month and decided to use it to try out a setting spray I have fancied giving a go for quite a while now - the Too Faced Hangover! As the name suggests, it can theoretically be used as either a primer spray, setting spray or throughout the day to refresh your makeup but generally, I've been choosing to employ it as a setting spray (as that tends to be how I see most people using and enjoying it) and so far - I love it! The mist is nice and fine but also quite concentrated so you don't need many sprays at once, it sets and melts my makeup together really beautifully and it keeps it looking basically as first applied all day long! It's also alcohol-free and also more of a hydrating setting spray too so whilst I wouldn't say it beats my beloved All Nighter (but then again, I doubt anything ever really will), it's certainly on-par with it as a new favourite and also has a couple of its own plus points too...

REVOLUTION SKINCARE X JAKE JAMIE FEED YOUR FACE 'STRAWBERRY DONUT' FACE MASK -  Moving onto Skincare - and also, the final favourite from my Revolution Beauty Haul - we have this lovely face mask! Again, I have wanted to try one of the face masks from this ongoing collaboration for so, so long and finally,I decided to just pick one up - and I have no regrets so far! It's got a creamy texture that easily applies to the skin and though does set after some time, doesn't fully dry down - so it's easy to soak off too. The scent of it is just gorgeous - such a fresh, not-too-artificial strawberry fragrance that's sweet without being sickly - and it really does leave my skin feeling and looking lovely afterwards. There's strawberry seeds in the formula which help gently buff away dead skin cells and the formula itself is really nourishing, so my skin just looks so radiant once I've used this mask. It also feels so soft and smooth, so all in all I think I might have found a new favourite face mask! I may just have to give more of them in the collection a try...

MAYBELLINE SUPER STAY FLASH DRY QUICK DRY TOP COAT - I had this top coat also kicking around in my 'New In' Drawer, decided to give it a go this month and so far - so good! I had a feeling I would enjoy this as I've also loved another of the Maybelline Super Stay Top Coats in the past (so much I used it all up completely) and honestly, I feel the same about this one! A good flat, rounded brush that makes it easy to apply precisely, dries down quickly, leaves my nails super shiny and gel-like and I'd say helps keep them chip-free for longer too!

GOT2B GUARDIAN ANGEL HEAT PROTECTION SPRAY - Finally, I ran out of my heat defence spray this month and have gone back to an old favourite from Got2B! And I've remembered just why I used to use and love it so much! Obviously, as I always say, you never can really tell how well heat protecting sprays work on your hair, but if we're going on how my hair looks and feels - I'd say it's doing a pretty good job! I mean, right now, my hair is not looking its best due to what's going on in the world (I missed my scheduled appointment a couple of weeks back and oh boy, do I know it - fingers crossed things go back to 'normal' soon!) but that issue aside, my hair would definitely look and feel worse at the moment if I wasn't using this!

So there we have it - my April Favourites! I've certainly found some products this month that I just know will become firm favourites in my collection from now on. Have you tried and found any new beauty loves this month? Let me know in the comments below!
