It's January, it's the start of 2019 and 'The Love List' - my monthly favourites series - has returned for another year! I love doing these posts, rounding up everything beauty-wise that I've found and been loving over the course of the month and sharing them all with you lovely lot too! And though some kinda write ol' January off, I've actually found a good handful of new favourites this month. Let's take a look at them...
REVOLUTION LUSTRE LIGHT HIGHLIGHTING PALETTE IN 'WARM' - I love a good highlighter and so far, this palette has definitely ticked that box for me. The two lighter shades that suit my paler skin-tone best especially are what I've mostly reached for, glow-wise, this month. Not only are the shades and tones spot-on, the formula is awesome too! So intense and blinding, but still so smooth and not at all chunky and glittery on the skin at the same time. Perfect!
REVOLUTION RELOADED EYESHADOW PALETTE IN 'IMPERATIVE' - Another new Revolution Makeup favourite from this month, again from the same calendar, is this eyeshadow palette. I already love their Reloaded Palettes range - so affordable, but such good quality too - and this recent addition to my collection is no exception. An all-shimmer palette, of various colours and tones - I really like it. The shades are well-pigmented, very shimmery and metallic in finish and once applied, last all day just as vibrant as they first applied, all day/night long. The shadows are fairly creamy in texture and so are easy to apply, without creating too much fall-out and paired with some good matte shades to complete a look - you're good to go!
REVOLUTION LIPGLOSS IN 'BEGIN' - It's no secret that for the most part, I'm an exclusively-matte lip gal. The only time I may deviate from this is with a nude lip and even then, I always tend to wear a matte lip too. So, gloss isn't typically my cup of tea - until now, that is. Despite my initial reservations, I gave this a go nevertheless and so far, I've been loving it! A gorgeous, rich mauvey-brown that on the lips, matches up to my natural lip colour almost identically - this works beautifully whether worn more liberally alone and simply paired with a lip liner or just lightly dabbed over the top of a lipstick or liquid lip. The formula is not at all goopy, sticky or uncomfortable, it actually feels very balmy and nourishing to wear. It gives such a super-shiny, juicy look to the lips too - makes a nice change from all of my matte lips!
REAL TECHNIQUES BRUSH CLEANSING GEL - Moving away from Makeup, I have finally tried a new brush cleanser this month and so far, I'm really liking it. In terms of 'deep cleansing' my brushes (as in, using running warm water), I have always used my Dr Bronner Magic Soap. However, when my last bottle ran out not too long ago, I decided it was at last time to move away from my holy grail and try something new - and naturally, Real Techniques came to mind. I remember this being launched a couple of years back and never taking the plunge in terms of giving it a whirl - until now, that is. And so far, this is a pretty damn good brush cleanser. This gives my brushes such a good, through cleanse. It removes absolutely all traces of makeup and just generally any dirt or grime that may be in there (yum) and it also leaves my brushes feeling so soft afterwards too. It rinses out easily, never leaving my brushes product-laden in anyway and it's not got too much of a strong, overpowering scent - which I really like too! All in all, I think I've found a new favourite for deep-cleaning my makeup brushes...
BIO GLOW NATURE INSPIRED CLEAN SKIN PAPAYA PEEL OFF FACE MASK - A Skincare fave I've discovered in January is this awesome face mask! I actually got this in my stocking at Christmas and have been super-eager to give it a go ever since - and that's exactly what I've done this month. And so far, I love it! For such a super-affordable face mask (like, we're talking £1 a bottle here) it works like a dream on my skin. It dries really quickly (something that definitely isn't always the case with peel-off face masks), peels off fairly easily and leaves my skin feeling so soft, smooth and just all nice and fresh again. So far, it's never irritated my sensitive skin and like I said before, is so darn affordable too! I think I'll be getting a good few uses out of this tube too.
SOAP AND GLORY 'NAUGHTY BUT SPICE' COLLECTION - I have a new favourite range from one of my top bodycare brands - Soap and Glory! Released as a Limited Edition Collection for Christmas, I finally picked up it in the Boots Sale earlier this month when it was heavily-discounted and have been thoroughly enjoying using it all ever since. From the creamy, but cleansing body wash to the super-nourishing body butter and even the super strong body mist - they're all winners, in my opinion. The scent of this range is also awesome too - fruity, slightly spicy, but not too strong or intense at the same time. Basically, I'm firmly hoping Soap and Glory bring this range back permanently at some point in the future!
TRESEMME KERATIN SMOOTH HEAT PROTECTION SPRAY - Finally for this month's faves, we come to Haircare. And I've found two new go-to's - one of them being a new favourite heat protection spray! We all know the original one from Tresemme is my holy grail, so when I came across this one rattling round in my stash, I decided to finally give it a go - and not gonna lie, I was pretty hopeful I'd enjoy it. And so far, I was right. This protects my hair from all things heat-related, whilst leaving it feeling and looking super soft and smooth and helping to minimise frizz at the same time. Having heavily-highlighted, bleached blonde hair, shielding it from heat damage is super important to me and so far, I think this one is treating me well...
THE WET BRUSH SPEEDY DRY BRUSH - Last, but certainly by no means least - a new favourite hairbrush of mine. I love, love, LOVE the original Wet Brush for brushing my hair. It glides through any knots or tangles, never pulls or tugs at my tresses and just generally works like a dream. Like I've mentioned, having long, bleach blonde hair, taking care of it is a necessity for me and that means a good hair brush and that one is a definite good'un. But, the one area I was still missing was a good styling brush. I really like using a brush when blow-drying sometimes if I want my hair to be super smooth and less frizzy from the get-go, or if I have any areas I'm struggling to get to, but unfortunately the classic Wet Brush can't be used when blow-drying your hair. So I wanted to see whether they offered anything that could - and then I spotted this brush. Basically, this is just like a normal Wet Brush, but one that you can use when blow-drying your hair. Yay! The super-flexible bristles glide through your wet hair as usual, but they're heat-resistant and the brush itself has also got some vents in the back of the brush which help dry your hair quicker too.
So there we have all of the new beauty products I tried in January and love, love, LOVED! Like I said, I know the first month of the year can have a bit of a reputation for being a little slow and not as good, but at least in terms of beauty discoveries, I'd say January 2019 has been a good'un. I hope you all had a good start to the year and perhaps found some new, awesome favourites - if you did, share them down below!
