September: The Love List

It's the end of the September already and we all know what that means - it's time for my beauty favourites of the month! I seen to have acquired a lot of new faves these past few weeks (mainly makeup too) so I suppose I better just get on with it!

REVOLUTION PRO SKIN FINISH POWDERS IN 'OPALESCENT' AND 'LUMINESCENT' - First up, we have this awesome new from from Revolution Pro. Ever since hearing MakeMeUpMissa rave on and on about these, I knew I had to eventually give them a go for myself - and I'm so, so pleased I did! The shade she especially goes on about - 'Opalescent' - is just as awesome as she makes it out to be and I fell love with it so much so that I went back for the lighter shade too, 'Luminescent'! Basically, these are like baked, slightly glowy powders. They're more glowy than a traditional pressed powder, but not as glowy as a typical highlighter - just like the perfect mix of the two. So, that means they work perfectly all-over the face for giving your complexion a lovely, luminous glow! Such a different type of product to anything else I've ever tried or owned before so I'm really happy to have these now in my collection for when I really want to get my glow on...

MAYBELLINE MISS BABY ROLL MASCARA - With my last mascara all dried up, I needed a new one to replace it. Then I found this unopened one from Maybelline in my stash and have been loving it ever since! I do remember using and enjoying it back when it first launched a couple of years ago but as is usual with mascaras, as soon as one dries up, you tend to go for a different one - so I haven't used this it again until now. But, I'm glad I decided to give it another whirl as it really is a pretty decent shout if you're after a good mascara from the drugstore. It volumises, lengthens, adds a nice fluttery curl and thickens the lashes up whilst still separating them out at the same time and - most importantly - not leaving behind any clumps either! It's not waterproof, but still lasts all day without flaking off or transferring at all so all in all, this is a winner for me!

REVOLUTION X ROXXSAURUS 'RIDE OR DIE' EYESHADOW PALETTE - This month I finally got round to trying out the two eyeshadow palettes from the Revolution X Roxxsaurus collaboration and so far, it's definitely the 'Ride Or Die' which has impressed me the most. Like I said in my review post here, it's such a shame as I love (and maybe even slightly prefer) the colour scheme of the more bright and bold 'Colour Burst' Palette but from what I've used of it so far, the quality just isn't as good as I have come to expect from Revolution palettes. 'Ride Or Die' - full of your more neutral browns, golds, pinks and reds - whilst perhaps less 'exciting' and unique, is much more of the standard that Revolution typically produce and as a result, this is the palette that has made its way into my favourites post right here!

NYX BARE WITH ME HELP LIP CONDITIONER - Moving onto Lips and let me tell you, I seem to have a lot of favourites for this month when it comes to that department. I clearly must have been trying and becoming obsessed with a lot of lippy products (in all shapes and forms) during September! The first being this new favourite lip 'balm' of mine. I say lip 'balm' as this is actually more so like a lip oil. Packaged like a lipgloss with a doe foot applicator which you use to apply it exactly the same! Formula-wise, it really does kinda feel like a lipgloss too - thin (but not watery), kinda oily and with a super shiny finish. I love applying this right as I start my makeup so that come to the very end when I want to do my lips, it's pretty much all sunk in and my lips are super plumped and hydrated and ready for lip product. And oh my, does this do a great job at really intensely nourishing the lips. As you would have seen in this post, I've been using a fair few lip moisturisers/balms/treatments this month and whilst I really like them all, this has definitely been the one I've used the most and I've certainly seen a big difference in my lips since first trying it back at the start of September!

JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS VELOUR LIQUID LIPSTICK IN 'FULLY NUDE' - Then, for actual lip 'colour' I just had to firstly give a shout-out to this liquid lipstick right here. It's no secret that I already really like the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks. Since finally giving a couple of shades a try back at the end of last year, they've quickly become a favourite formula of mine - so much so that I chose the bright hot pink called 'prom Night' as one of my birthday presents back in May! And when he released his Summer Collection for this year a few months back, I was instantly interested in one shade in particular - and finally this month, I got round to giving it a try! It's called 'Fully Nude'. Yes, I know, another nude, but this one actually looked a little different from your typical neutral. It's almost more so a warm, mid-toned pink with a slightly neural undertone to it. Super pretty and flattering on the lips and also such an easy to wear colour too. You can pair it with so many looks and it just works - yanno? As always, the formula is spot-on (super powdery matte but not drying, lasts all day/night long with minimal touch-ups needed) so really, I can't complain!

MAYBELLINE SUPER STAY MATTE INK CRAYON IN 'LEAD THE WAY' - Carrying on the matte lip theme, but moving more so into lipstick-type formulas - we have this matte lip crayon! It's been a long while since I've used a chubby crayon format like this but ever since seeing these being released from Maybelline recently, I've been intrigued to try them out - so decided to pick up this shade first off. And so far I have to say I'm pretty impressed. It is indeed another nudey shade, but admittedly I did think that was the safest bet with this formula as whilst it does claim to be matte, typically with matte lipsticks there is still the slightest slip to them - something I definitely do not want with any sort of bright, bold or deep colour. That's why I tend to always go for a matte liquid lipstick for those shades! Who knows, maybe this formula would be different and after trying, I'd then know for sure I'd be safe branching out in picking up other shades but to ease myself in to begin with, I opted for this mauvey-pink. And so far, so good! I do still stand by what I said to start off with as whilst the formula is matte, it is certainly more satin matte than the powdery matte that's fully transfer proof - so I would stick to the nude shades personally - but for those types of colours, I actually love this format! It's just the right size crayon to both fill in the lips quickly, but allow for complete control and precision in application at the same time and the formula is just lovely. Like I said, it's so creamy and glides on with ease - and full opaque colour too! - but at the same time, it kind of sets down to a demi-matte and so has decent lasting power aswell. The best of both worlds. I think I may be taking a look at any other neutral tones they have in the range soon...

I HEART REVOLUTION CHOCOLATE LIPGLOSS IN 'SALTED CARAMEL' - Moving onto a couple of awesome lip glosses I've found (or possibly refound) this month and been obsessing over. I know, I know - Me? Loving lipgloss? What's going on? - but whilst I still so adore my matte lips (and still wear that kind of finish most of the time honestly), I've actually come to really appreciate a good glossy lip every now and again and that's mainly due to me finally finding some lipglosses that truly float my beauty boat! One of them being this beauty from I Heart Revolution. You may remember a few months back I finally decided to pick it up after hearing so much hype over this new Chocolate Lipgloss Range overall and I certainly wasn't disappointed. A lovely, glossy-but-not-sticky formula that's super comfortable on the lips yet also super high shine too. It's not too thick in consistency and feels more so balmy on the lips and the colour is just gorgeous aswell. A mid-toned nude that's not too light, nor too deep - almost just like my lips, but better - and with a lovely, warm, pinky-brown undertone to it. It really is like the perfect salted caramel hue! It's pretty opaque in colour, but still sheer enough to allow your natural lip colour/whatever lip product you have on underneath to shine through slightly (my personal preference when it comes to lipglosses) too - what more could you ask for?

NYX BUTTER GLOSS IN 'TIRAMISU' - Another lipgloss that I've been loving and actually discovered for the first time this month is this one from NYX! I remember years back everyone would rave on and on about how amazing their Butter Glosses were and finally, about a million years later - here I am, jumping on the hype bandwagon. But, whilst I may be pretty late to the party, I'm so happy I'm here at last as I love them! I only picked up this pretty, pinky-nude to begin so I could see whether I liked the formula or not but now I've established I definitely do, I could easily see myself adding more shades to my collection over time. Similarly to the I Heart Revolution one, the formula is so glossy, yet also so 'thin' and lightweight feeling and not at all sticky or goopy on the lips at all. And again, it's got just the right amount of pigmentation to show up on the lips, but not overpower anything else going on. Perfect!

REVOLUTION HIGH GLOSS NAIL POLISHES IN 'LINGERIE' AND 'RUSH' - Finally, we come to a couple of new nail polishes I tried this month and have been obsessing over ever since. You may remember last month that I tried one of three colours that I picked up from Revolution's new range of nail polishes and in short, I loved it. However, I finally got the chance to try the other two shades in September and let's just say, I was just as impressed! 'Lingerie' is a lovely pinky-nude, whilst 'Rush' is the most gorgeous bright, tomato red. Both have the same formula I fell in love with before - near opaque in one coat but fully opaque in your standard two, dries down quickly, leaves behind a super shiny, gel-like finish and lasts pretty well before any minor chipping starts appearing. Plus, they're only £3 each! I think I may end up trying more colours from this range over time...

So there we are - all of my top beauty picks from this past month of September! I feel like I found (or even just rediscovered) some proper firm favourites these past few weeks - I think you may be seeing more from a lot of these round these parts from now on...
