I've tried so many new eyeshadow palettes this year - as well as continually reaching into my extensive existing collection - and in all honesty, thee haven't been many that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. However, for today's post I thought I'd compile all of my top, top favourites of the year and share them with you all! Yes, it was difficult to choose at times as like I said, I've loved using so many awesome palettes this year - but I think I just about managed to get there eventually. Let's get started...
BPERFECT CARNIVAL XL PRO PALETTE - The first new palette I tried in 2020 - and still one of my favourites of the whole year! This palette really affirmed my love for BPerfect in terms of eyeshadows. It's your classic rainbow palette, but with such a gorgeous mixture of tones and textures - and still some neutrals thrown in for good measure too! You really can create endless looks with this (whether bright, neutral or perhaps somewhere in-between) and I cannot wait to play with it again soon...
I HEART REVOLUTION TASTY PEACH PALETTE - I'd wanted to try one of the I Heart Revolution palettes for a long while, but no colour scheme had really grabbed my attention - until this one right here. A pretty, warm-toned palette that's packed full of pinks, oranges and reds - it really caught my eye - and I have to say I have no regrets about making this the first palette I tried from the brand! The mattes are well-pigmented and the shimmers fairly intense and metallic and the colors just compliment each other so nicely too. The perfect palette for Spring/Summer!
ELF BITE SIZE PALETTES - These really impressed me this year. Tiny palettes, super cheap (like, I'm talking £3 a palette here!) and yet, they are such great quality! I'd never tried ELF shadows before and combined with the super affordable price-tag, it's safe to say I was a little dubious - but I was really pleasantly surprised. The colour schemes are so perfectly picked (you get a good ratio of mattes and shimmers in each palette and the colours all go together nicely) and the formula is pretty impressive. Yes, the mattes aren't the most pigmented but they do build up well and blend pretty seamlessly. And then we come to the shimmers - which are certainly the stars of the show. So creamy, reflective and metallic! So, it's definitely worth giving these a look for those alone...
B PERFECT X JAH CLIENTELE PALETTE - I couldn't resist trying another of BPerfect's eyeshadow collaborations, having had great success with the Stacey Marie Carnivals! This is definitely a more classic, neutral colour scheme and I was very interested to see how it would compare to the brighter, bolder palettes of theirs that I'd tried in the past. And you know what? I love it just as much! Formula-wise, it is just as awesome. Highly-pigmented and blendable mattes, creamy and reflective shimmers - what's not to love? I was so happy to have a neutral offering from BPerfect for when I don't fancy playing with colour...
BEAUTY BAY X MMMMITCHELL PALETTE - About a year later, I finally jumped on the Beauty Bay X MmmMitchell Palette hype train - and yes, I can definitely see what all the fuss is about. This is an amazing palette! Another classic rainbow palette that's still got some handy neutrals in there, a mix of mattes and shimmers and a great variation of tones and depths - I love it! Unfortunately, not long after I'd finally given into the hype it was announced this palette was being discontinued (boo!) so I'm super pleased I picked it up so I could give it a go before it was gone forever...
BEAUTY BAY SUNSET HORIZONS AND BOOK OF MAGIC PALETTES - Only last month, I tried out another two palettes from Beauty Bay and - surprise, surprise - I loved them! These were fairly new releases and got so much hype and attention that I just couldn't pass them up. After the MmmMitchell Palette, I had really high hopes - and thankfully, I was not disappointed! I'd honestly say the quality of these two is just as brilliant and the colour scheme of each is just so gorgeous, versatile and inspiring. Great formulas, finishes and a great mix of mattes and shimmers. I can't wait to create more looks with both of these!
BPERFECT CARNIVAL 3 LOVE TAHITI PALETTE - I couldn't do this post without mentioning this palette, could I? Ever since trying this out back when it was released in the Summer - I have been obsessed! I really hoped I'd love this as much as I have the Carnival 1 and 2 and I really do - I may even love it more. I think this is my favourite Carnival Palette yet. Once again, it's a gorgeous, colourful, bright, rainbow palette - but with a twist this time. The tones inside this edition are certainly a little different and make this palette stand out from the crowd.
BH COSMETICS MIMOSA PALETTE - BH Cosmetics is a brand I'd never tried anything from before, in general. I'd always eyed up their eyeshadow palettes in particular but it was their Weekend Vibes range they released this year that finally pushed me to make a purchase. This 'Mimosa' Palette is gorgeous and definitely a 'me' palette - packed full of pinks, oranges, yellows and purples. I fell in love with this bright, warm colour scheme and gave it a go - and I was not disappointed! The formula of these shadows is pretty impressive - the mattes well pigmented and blendable, the shimmers super intense, creamy and reflective - and I just loved all the looks I created with just my initial try. I love wearing these types of colours all year round, but especially so in Spring/Summer, so I can't wait to get this back out again in a few months time...
REVOLUTION X SOPH EXTRA SPICE PALETTE - Last, but by no means least - I had to include this old favourite! I decided to add this into my Project Pan 2020, in the hope I could make further progress on the many pans I already had in this palette, maybe finish some shades up and possibly create pans in other colours. I'd say I did pretty well in getting more use out of this palette this year - so I knew it had to make an appearance in a post like this. When I've not been trying out new palettes (like all the ones mentioned above) or getting more use out of other older favourites - this palette has been a go-to of mine in 2020 - and it remains one of my favourite staple palettes in my collection...
