20 New Favourites Of 2020 So Far...

It's now July and as has become a tradition on Dainty Ditsy - it's time to talk through all of my halfway yearly beauty favourites! Basically, you know how I like to do a full rundown of all of my beauty favourites - old and new - from the past year, at the very end? Well, I also like to do one at the midway point, focusing purely on the best of the best of the new products I've tried. As always, it was kinda difficult to narrow things down, but eventually I *think* I got there. And to be honest, with 2020 being quite the s*** show so far, it's literally only the beauty products I've found that have been some of the highlights. So, without any further ado - let's get started...

BPERFECT X STACEY MARIE CARNIVAL XL PRO PALETTE - This palette has to be one of my favourite, favourite finds of 2020 so far. I was already in love with the original Carnival Palette, but this one is even better! Same amazing formula I've come to know from BPerfect - insanely pigmented, smooth and blendable mattes; intense, foiled-like shimmers. There's basically every colour in the rainbow in this palette, aswell as some handy neutrals - and they're also in a variety of depth, tone and finishes too! Also, if that wasn't enough, there's also three highlighters thrown in for good measure... ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

BPERFECT X JAH CLIENTELE PALETTE - I enjoyed the Carnival XL Pro Palette so much, I decided to give this collaboration - also by BPerfect - a try! And, as hoped, I love it! Again, it's the same amazing quality of BPerfect shadows, just with an entirely neutral-based colour story. But, though this palette is more neutral and parred-back, it's by no means 'boring' or like your regular neutral, nude eyeshadow palette! There's some gorgeous, rich berry tones, a couple of pops of green and some stunning cool-tones thrown in for good measure. Also, whilst the shimmers are all stunning, 'Pink Rose' (a light pink with greeney-gold micro shimmer running through it) in particular is just all kinds of beautiful. ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

ELF BITE SIZE EYESHADOW PALETTES - The final palettes I just had to mention are these ones from ELF! These are super cheap, super small - but super good at the same time. I've only tried a few of the colourways so far, but every one I've been thoroughly impressed with. 'Hot Jalapeno' (the green-gold colour scheme) is especially gorgeous, but to be honest they all are! For such super affordable palettes, the quality is just amazing,. The mattes are well-pigmented, not at all patchy and blend like a dream and the shimmers are really lovely and intensely shimmery too - and most of them also pick up perfectly well on a flat brush! Some do require a damp brush or fingertip to get them to their maximum potential, but it's a nice surprise for some to apply so well without. Nowadays, many shimmers do require a helping hand (not because of being bad quality, but more because they're so creamy and metallic in formula, they simply do not pick up on a brush) so for these cheap ELF palettes to have created such an intense, but easy to work with formula is so good! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

REVLON CANDID CONCEALER - I actually bought this concealer to use as an eye base, because of MakeMeUpMissa's recommendation - and I was not disappointed! This is literally the only concealer I can use as an eye primer/base on my lid, without setting it with powder before applying my shadows - without it creasing and therefore ruining my eye look! It's such a thin, lightweight formula that I can apply it, blend it out and go straight in with my eyeshadows and not only do they apply without any issues (mattes are pigmented, opaque and blend easily; shimmers adhere with maximum reflection) they also last impeccably throughout the day too. No creasing, fading, transferring, smudging - nothing! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

MAYBELLINE HYPER EASY EYELINER - If you've read round here before, you'll know I adore my NYX Epic Ink Liner. It's got a brush tip that makes for a fairly quick, easy and fool-proof application. It glides on smoothly; makes it quite easy to create a sharp wing; dries to a semi-matte finish and does not move all day long. But, a while ago I was wanting to try something new - just to see what else was out there as I'd used and loved my Epic Ink for so long. This one from Maybelline caught my eye - and I'm so glad it did, as I love it! It's near-identical to my NYX Epic Ink. It's also got a brush tip, is nice and 'wet' with product but is easy to control, is precise and sharp in the way it applies, dries down to a satin finish and once set into place - doesn't budge! It also seems to last well too, seeing as I opened this up nearer the start of the year and it's still going strong! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

WET 'N' WILD PHOTOFOCUS DEWY FOUNDATION - I only tried out this foundation last month, but so far - definitely so good! I'd hoped and prayed this base would make its way over to the UK after seeing and hearing so many bloggers/YouTubers in the US raving about it - and it did. So, I picked one up and I'm pretty glad I did. This shade matches me pretty well and I just love the finish and feel of this foundation. It's got good, strong medium coverage that can be slightly sheered out or built up as desired and it deposits such a lovely, glowy finish to the skin. It's dewy, without looking too shiny and greasy - if you get what I mean? It just looks radiant and sits so smoothly on my skin too. It also lasts really well throughout the day too - especially with all of this warmer weather we've been having recently! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

REVOLUTION CONCEAL AND DEFINE INFINITE CONCEALER IN 'C1' - I already adore the original Conceal and Define, but this one is perhaps even better. It's got the same creamy, blendable texture that blends easily and sits really nice and smoothly on the skin - it's just got even more coverage! Now, don't get me wrong - the classic Conceal and Define has a really nice full coverage - but the Infinite version is almost like full-full, if you get what I mean? It definitely goes that one step further and I love it! It completely covers and corrects whatever it is you're wanting it to and once set, it stays perfectly in place all day long. It's not too dewy, nor too matte in finish and as a result, feels super comfortable and doesn't look drying on the skin in anyway. What more could you ask for? ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

ELF HYDRATING CAMO CONCEALER IN 'FAIR WARM' - Another concealer I've been loving in the first half of 2020 is this one from Elf! I did like the original Camo Concealer, but I didn't love it as much as I hoped I would - and as much as I adore the concealers from other brands like Revolution, for example! So, when I saw they were releasing a hydrating, dewy version of it - I knew I had to give it a try. And all in all, I love it! I do find the shades don't identically match-up between the ranges, so I had to be careful to go for a different shade in this formula to what I used in the classic Camo Concealer, but that aside, I have no complaints! This blends like a dream, has really nice medium-full coverage and sits beautifully on the skin. It's got a lovely satin finish (as the hydrating title would suggest), but stays in place with no problems at all once set into place. It's not at all heavy and feels so hydrating and comfortable, even when set down with powder! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

ELF HALO GLOW SETTING POWDER IN 'LIGHT' - Another favourite from Elf is this awesome loose setting powder! You can tell how much I adore this by the way that I'm already nearing the end. I think you get slightly less in here than some other loose powders, but nevertheless, I think that says a lot! This is a gorgeous loose powder. I use this to 'bake' my under-eyes and any areas I want to fully seal into place and not only does it fully mattify and lock things into place all day long, as the name suggests it does indeed leave a slight sheeney finish behind. There's no noticeable, chunky glitter or shimmer to be seen, but somehow this powder really does have a subtle glow to it. I don't know how it does it, but it does it well! It ensures a smooth, non-dry-looking, radiant finish every single time. It dusts away easily, doesn't leave a cast and the shade is just perfect for my paler skin-tone too. I can tell this is going to be one of my go-to loose powders from now on and something I will most likely repurchase when the times comes! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

ESSENCE CONTOURING DUO PALETTE IN 'LIGHTER SKIN' - I really wasn't expecting to come across a new favourite contour product in the first half of 2020. I had my holy grail NYX Blush in 'Taupe' and in all honesty, nothing else on the market really caught my eye - at least, at the affordable end of the scale. But, as soon as I saw MakeMeUpMissa raving about this newer launch from Elf a few months back, my interest really was piqued and I'm so glad it was, as this contour palette is amazing! Inside this handy duo you get two matte powders - one lighter and one deeper - and I just love this set-up. The deeper shade is my perfect contour hue for most of my face. Not too deep, nor too light and the ideal ashy, without being too grey, undertone. Then you have a lighter, bone-type shade that is just perfect for areas where I don't want as much of an intense contour, such as my nose! Normally, I'd have to simply go in with a super light hand of my usual contour colour, or perhaps mix it with a pressed powder - but with this, it's already right there for me. Both shades are pigmented, without being too much at once and they also blend beautifully. And it's so, so cheap! Again, I can tell this is going to be my new go-to favourite from now on... ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

REVOLUTION PRO SCULPTING BRONZER IN 'BAHIA' - I have a lot of favourite bronzers, but this new one from Revolution Pro has really stole my heart since I first tried it a couple of months back. The colour is spot-on for my paler skin-tone - not too light, nor too dark and with such a nice warm, but non-orangey undertone -  and I just love how creamy and blendable the formula of this powder is! It's very pigmented, so you do have to go in with either a small amount or a light hand, but of course that's definitely not a bad thing - just something to remember so that you never go overboard or apply too much at once! In all honesty though, it's so blendable that you can easily sheer things out if you do go in with too much anyway! It blends so seamlessly and easily and it's a matte finish (as I like my bronzers to be), though I do think it's got a slight sheen to it, which is lovely as there's no noticeable shimmer or glitter, just it just makes your skin appear super healthy and radiant! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

BENEFIT COOKIE HIGHLIGHTER - It wouldn't be a favourites of mine without a highlighter, right? And for the first half of 2020, this one from Benefit has been my best find. After so long of people raving about this highlighter, at the start of this year I finally caved and gave it a go myself - and I was certainly not disappointed. This is such a gorgeous highlighter! A pearly champagne with a slight pink undertone, this is just so stunning on the complexion. So reflective and glowy, but still so smooth and without any chunky glitter or sparkle running through it. It just looks 'wet' on the skin - which is exactly the type of highlighter I love. It may be a little more on the pricey side, but in my opinion it is more than worth it and I am so glad I added it to my collection... ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

REVOLUTION PRO SUPREME LIP RELIEF - I've tried a lot of different lip balms and treatments in the past year or so and honestly, this one that I tried right at the very start of this year has to be one of my favourites. It's got a super thick, almost solid consistency that melts upon application and instantly feels uber-hydrating and nourishing on the lips. It makes my lips feel so soft and smooth and also appear really hydrated and plump too! I can use this before bed, throughout the day if I'm not wearing any makeup or before applying my makeup and it works like a treat. My lip colours always apply and look really nice when I've used this lip balm too. ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

PRIMARK LIP LINER IN 'TOAST' - I've always loved the lip liners from Primark. They're £1 each (yep, that's right, only one pound!) and yet are amazing quality at the same time. Recently, they've updated the packaging, whilst still keeping the wide shade range and super cheap price-point and I decided to pick this shade in particular up after, again, hearing good things about it from MakeMeUpMissa. Once again, she did not steer me wrong, as I have been loving this lip liner ever since! As always, this lip liner is super creamy and so glides like a dream, yet also waxy enough to allow for a crisp and controlled application and also a hard-wearing, long-lasting finish that doesn't budge easily. It's pigmented in one swipe and I just love this colour. You know my beloved Rimmel 1000 Kisses 'Tiramisu' Lip Liner? This is almost identical, colour-wise! A mid-toned, warm peachy-brown that is one of my favourite, most-used tones when I want a nude lip liner. Perfect! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS VELOUR LIQUID LIPSTICK IN 'ROSE MATTER' -  I really do love this line of liquid lipsticks and have gradually been adding more and more to my collection, the latest being this shade right here, only last month! This is such a pretty soft, pinky-coral that strikes the perfect balance between a 'bold' and 'neutral' lip. You know when you want more than a standard nude, but perhaps not a super bright, bold or deep lip colour? This is the sort of colour that answers that conundrum! As always, the formula is spot-on. Super thin and liquidy, but soon dries down to a super matte finish that's shine-free, but still very comfortable, lightweight and non-drying on the lips. Full opaque in one layer and really long-lasting too! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

REVOLUTION SKINCARE LIP COLOUR REMOVER - Sometimes, certain lip formulas can be quite tricky to remove whenever you actually want them to come off. Eventually, a micellar water or makeup wipe will get there but it may take a little longer than perhaps you wanted. So, when I saw this product from Revolution Skincare, I was very intrigued as it seemed to answer my prayers! I picked it up, gave it a go and in short - have been in love with it ever since. You simply take a small amount of this on a small cotton pad or tissue, gently rub it over your lips and in no time at all you'll see it begin to break down your stubborn lip colour. It's not at all harsh, quick, easy and leaves your lips feeling very nourished afterwards. For more hardy lip products like matte liquid lipsticks especially, this has become a staple for more foolproof removal... ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

TOO FACED HANGOVER SETTING SPRAY - I have been nearly wholly faithful to my beloved Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray for so, so long now. I've dabbled in various drugstore/more affordable options but that aside, in terms of more 'high-end' or 'luxury' - the All Nighter has been the only one for me. However, if there's one other more expensive setting spray that has always caught my attention, it's the Too Faced Hangover Setting Spray. It's another classic, long-term fave of so many others who rave about it! And having finally given it a try for myself, I can definitely see why. It's more hydrating than the All Nighter, so really does give the skin a gorgeous glowy finish and it melts everything together and removes any powdery finish on the skin perfectly. It's quite a 'wet' spray, so you really don't need many spritzes to give your entire face a good coating and I'd certainly say it helps keep my makeup well in place all day long! It's also got a yummy, coconutty scent that sort of reminds me of Malibu (ahhh, how I can't wait for my next night out)... ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

REVOLUTION SKINCARE X JAKE JAMIE STRAWBERRY DONUT FACE MASK - Moving onto Skincare, this face mask by far has just got to make an appearance in this post. I had wanted to try out one of the face masks from this ongoing collaboration between Revolution Skincare and influencer Jake Jamie for so long now and finally, I did exactly that when I picked this one up a couple of months back! This 'flavour' just sounded too good to pass up on. A donut face mask? Yes please! And not only does this face mask indeed smell delicious, it also seems to work a real treat on my skin too. This is a cream-based mask that kind of only partly sets down and you simply slather it on, leave it for as long as like and then gently dissolve off with a damp flannel. And my skin is left feeling so soft, smooth and supple afterwards! It also looks really hydrated and plump too. There's some tiny strawberry seeds in the formula that also kind of work to help gently buff away dead skin cells aswell, which I guess is a handy bonus! ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

GARNIER ULTIMATE BLENDS BANANA HAIR FOOD MASK - Haircare-wise, the main product I tried in the past six months which has really stood out has to be this lovely hair mask. This was part of a fairly new launch that I started hearing and seeing more and more good things about. All of the hair masks seemed to get good reviews, but being a fan of anything banana scented or flavoured - it was obviously this one that caught my attention the most. I gave it a try and have been obsessed ever since! Just like the face mask, not only does this product smell delicious and almost good enough to eat (which, obvs, don't) it's also just generally an awesome hair mask/treatment! It's a super thick consistency and as always, I slather this all over my hair, wrap it up and leave it to do its thing for as long as I can and when I rinse it out - my hair feels and looks so good! Recently of course, my actual hair hasn't been looking its best (I have a full head highlights appointment booked for the end of this week and I could not be more excited!) but colour and style aside, the actual quality of my hair hasn't been too bad - and I think it's partly due to this hair mask. My hair has been feeling so soft, smooth and looking so shiny and healthy too! It also really retains the yummy banana scent too, so my tresses are left smelling pretty delicious for a while too... ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.

PRIMARK PS... LOVE BLACK OUD EAU DE TOILETTE - Last, but certainly by no means least - a perfume fave! As I've said many times before, if I'm not wearing my 'proper', expensive perfume - I like to go for a cheaper one, or a body spray. Say I'm just going to work or not doing anything that exciting that day - that's when I'll go for something like this. And after my Mum saying how lovely this perfume from Primark is (and having smelt it myself and wholly agreed) and now, having a whole bottle to myself, I'm loving it! Sweet, vanilla-ry, kinda musky - just the sort of fragrance I tend to go for! Also, considering it's a cheap perfume, it's pretty potent. You don''t need many spritzes and I find it to really last well throughout the day too... ORIGINALLY FEATURED HERE.
